Re: Freighting espresso machinery
Hi,
I was wondering if people know of a good courier company with experience to pickup a machine in Sydney and deliver it Melbourne, its a single group.
I have tried pack and send in the past but they arent really geared up to pickup coffee machines :-)

Re: Freighting espresso machinery
just thought i would follow up my latest experience with E-go shipping the La DorioOriginally posted by 48444D404049250 link=1285381828/12#12 date=1290725058is it me or is e-go just crazy cheap ?
do i take the gamble again with them ?
1st booking at sellers address was a fail, it may have had a confusing entry driveway in a semi rural location.
2nd booking went fine, but i paid more to get a "timed pickup" where you can specify a time (like after 4pm), it was relocated to a better pick up address as well.
through email I asked e-go about making the 2nd booking at the time i needed a pickup "after 4pm" and they said it would work if i paid the extra to be safe (So i did). they also said they woudl re-fund the failed pickup (which was nice but i was prepared to forget about it...
They have since refunded the 1st booking in good faith
cheapest E-go might be best if pick up time and drop off time are very flexible in that you are there all day etc. or pay a bit more for the extra services

Interesting. Also, this comment.Originally posted by 6E4A434340407A6E4A56484A250 link=1285381828/15#15 date=1292459964This is a popular mechanics review of courier companies in the US
I collect and sell vintage computers and video game consoles and have things either shipped to me or shipped by me constantly. It is always a hassle when a rare vintage device gets damaged in shipping... but I have noticed that EVERY TIME a damaged box arrives, it is marked fragile, while 99.9% of the packages I get that are not marked "fragile" arrive in pristine shape.
This was a longtime, and disturbing, pattern I had noticed. I got the impression that the parcel carriers deliberately treated packaged marked "fragile" poorly.
I did a few tests by sending a friend 1/2 way across the country 18 separate boxes... 9 marked "fragile" and 9 not. He shipped three of each type via the three carriers... and in 8 out of the 9 parcels marked fragile arrived looking like someone played soccer with them, while only 1 out of 9 of the non-marked packages arrived in perfect shape.
Tho all three carriers abused the marked packages, USPS was the worst offender... and conversely, the unmarked packages shipped by them arrived in the best shape.
After that, I make sure to stress to people I buy vintage items from NOT to mark the package "fragile" and I never mark them that way when I ship. Damaged packages have dropped to almost zero since I started implementing that.
So, long story short, NEVER mark a package "fragile" if you want it to arrive intact, regardless of which carrier you choose.

This is a popular mechanics review of courier companies in the US
However the results would apply equally worldwide

We mailed a bunch of sensors on an epic journey to find out which shipping company is the most careful with your packages. Heres what we found. Then check out these packaging tips to make sure your shipments arrive in one piece.

Re: Freighting espresso machinery
My delivery went well with e go. I collected from their warehouse to make it cheaper. It all depends on how well the item is packaged, as to how well it travels.

Have used a few times and all been good.
But like every thing... There can always be an exception and if the other party doing the packing !!!!! That does play a part.

Re: Freighting espresso machinery
I decided to go with e-go as they were so much cheaper then any other option. I will await the arrival of the item before recommending them. Fingers crossed it arrives in one piece.

Re: Freighting espresso machinery
Just a note to add to this thread as this seems to topical at the moment. We sent a 66 kg pack via "pack n send" from Brisbane (Strathpine) to Deniliquin for $230. They go by weight of product obviously so check that out first. It was very well packed and labelled. Obviously with a coffee machine one would hope that would be well packed by the person sending the parcel also. We were very impressed with pack n sends service to our door (and we are on a farm 35 k out of the nearest town down a country road) . We chose to take the pack to the depot in Brissie. We phoned some of the big players re transporting the parcel and they were not at all interested in our business. "Little fish in big sea".

Re: Freighting espresso machinery
pack n send will do it properly prepare to pay 300 plus.
e-go are fine if you can pack it so it can be dropped...
