Re: Steaming Eggs on an Espresso Machine
My dad mentioned one of his chef friends doing this to make hollandaise (because he could better control the temp.) and my first thought was "nice theory but not on my machine!"
I guess you could certainly give it a good clean afterwards, but by the time Id be done scrubbing my precious down, the eggs would be cold. Ill stick to the saucepan method.

Re: Steaming Eggs on an Espresso Machine
This has been discussed before.
My father did it in his cafe back in the early 1960s.
I agree with melicicious.
No bloody way on my machine!!!
SeattleCoffeeGear should be excommunicated.
The eggs looked a bit rubbery.
I make superb scrambled eggs in less time using a frypan.

Re: Steaming Eggs on an Espresso Machine
The biggest concern these days would be how many people have anaphylaxis from eggs, and the machine then making coffees. Noone would think to disclose an egg allergy when ordering a coffee. If there was a dedicated machine maybe, but damn that nozzle would be grotty no matter how much cleaning it endured.Originally posted by 68696E7573721C0 link=1290153277/4#4 date=1290171046He maintains that everyone complemented him on how smooth the eggs were.

Re: Steaming Eggs on an Espresso Machine
That is a very valid point. I hadnt quite thought of it from that angle. I think that there is also a general hygiene issue, given that, as you noted, it would be extremely difficult to clean the nozzle.Originally posted by 6C73716B72677071661E0 link=1290153277/5#5 date=1290200800The biggest concern these days would be how many people have anaphylaxis from eggs, and the machine then making coffees. In the end, I must agree with melicious and ThunderGod...no way, no how on my machine!

Re: Steaming Eggs on an Espresso Machine
Im not going to buy a second machine just to steam scrambled eggs! That is just silly. I do have an issue with my old steam iron however and it is coming up for replacement. My ironing technique is to actually hang the clothes and point the steam station iron at the clothes and blast. What do others thing about having a second Diadema in the laundry that could steam iron my clothes as well as make coffee? The price difference is only a factor of 8 and the machine could double as a paint stripper if I get a longer extension chord so effectively I am getting extra bang for my buck! I do hope that the Seattle Coffee ladies see this suggestion. I would enjoy a video of them precariously at the the top of a very tall ladder with a Giotto and a paint scraper. ;DOriginally posted by 39383F2422234D0 link=1290153277/6#6 date=1290202565If there was a dedicated machine maybe

Re: Steaming Eggs on an Espresso Machine
I think you can buy a standalone steamer but who who buy one if they already had an espresso machine and thought this was a good idea?Originally posted by 3B2B3C2D2D6B6A69616E6A590 link=1290153277/7#7 date=1290206176Im not going to buy a second machine just to steam scrambled eggs!
Learn how to make light and fluffy scrambled eggs in a frying pan; its faster and easier to clean up.

Re: Steaming Eggs on an Espresso Machine
Well i tried it this morning cooking 3 serves of 2 eggs, milk , pepper and fish sause in a 400 ml jug, it made steamed egg in under a minute, very light and fluffy, tasted really good, It was a bit of work to clean steam wand after, but no big deal.
I did it as more of a novelty, something different to show my kids.
I think it was worth trying and a bit of fun.

While a bit strange, I see people putting fish sauce with a lot of things.Originally posted by 4D62796E7B647C6E790B0 link=1290153277/12#12 date=1290290204it is substitutefor salt , salty taste , i do a lot of asian cooking, mixes well with eggs.
Hell, plenty of people put Worcestershire sauce on eggs, and that has anchovies in it.
