    Re: Please Drive Carefully!

Ever watched someone die as a result of a drunk driving incident? I have. Ever deal with someone at the scene of an accident who has had their lower leg ripped off in a drunk driving incident? I have. Ever spend time in a car next to a trapped, screaming victim as a result of a drunk driving accident while you try to pry enough of the vehicle away so they can be transported to the hospital? I have. Anyone who consumes alcohol and operates a motor vehicle while it is in their system belongs in prison at hard labor.

People learn more from what if scenarios rather than being shown graphic if scenarios.
That is true but I think everyone has the message these days. The sad truth is that it is the risk of being caught that motivates people not to drink-drive, not the risk of having an accident.

How many people here think they could drive competently from A to B with a blood alcohol level of 0.05%? I know I (think I) can because I have done it in the past - when the levels used to be 0.08% and Ive probably been over that before random breath tests were brought in.

The problem with alcohol is that it impairs judgment: someone thinks they can really sing karaoke; that the person they are talking to doesnt look so bad after all and that they can still drive and wont get caught or have an accident.

You could consider the them "what if" scenarios.

I teach people road safety for a living...

Well I like to think I do... :

Not a bad ad, but still based on showing consequences rather than talking preventative measures.

People learn more from what if scenarios rather than being shown graphic if scenarios.

This sort of stuff they will turn off or tune out.

Vic has being doing this type of thing for a long time.

Unfortunately only the ones who wont do this, watch these adds the ones who do just shrug it off . As stated previously it wont happen to them. Being in a job where I used to attend many similar incidents - they usually learn the hard way. :-[

The "Shell be right typically boganistic approach to this subject is still very prevalent at most pubs on a friday arvo here in the Riverina.
In certain places of the world, everyone must stop while they play the national anthem. Perhaps in Aussie pubs, everyone must stop and watch this video - before they get p1ssed

That video is certainly graphic but also very impressive and thought provoking.
It should be shown on tv more often to remind us all of what happens if things dont go to plan.

I am forwading it on to my friends.
    Thanks for posting.
    Dan.

From watching this it makes me sort of angry at how thick headed us aussies can be in relation to road safety.

20 years on and nothing has sunk into our thick scones!!

    Well done flynn_aus
