      Re: Queensland Floods

Its a terrible time and while dry down south, were thinking of those who are doing it tough. Stay safe everyone- stuff can be replaced.

Must admit I feel pretty helpless, but so as to do something, 100% of the takings from our e-shop until close of trade on 22/1 are going straight to the flood relief appeal.

        Re: Queensland Floods

Im on the sunshine coast, and the sun just came out! Woohoo.

Been watching the news, terrible stuff. So scary how many people have been killed and so many still missing.

Were clearing out the cupboards to donate clothes when it all clears up and will donate to the flood relief appeal. I think theres going to be more of the way with Ipswich & Brisbane next.

Our thoughts are with anyone effected.

PS. If anyone is stuck near Peregian and needs coffee, my machine is on and I have beans!

          Re: Queensland Floods

The real efforts will be in the clean up, as the problems and struggles does not stop, once the water falls.

Mates are already offering accomadation and have full houses and Yards.... Iam stuck and can not offer myplace at home. Yet neighbours have stated that there are strangers in the area and some strange movements...

The hard part for those trying to assist will once again be; Rubbernecks AND Looters.

Fingers crossed that we all come through it safe... And that as floods head south others are better prepaired.

Thoughts and prayers to all our CS friends across the ditch in the thick of it. If any nation on the planet can bounce back from this its our Aussie mates.
Stay safe and keep us all posted.

Again we in the south are thinking of our suffering mates in the wet north.

              Nature can be so cruel.

I just raised my coffee cup to you, wishing that you can soon get your lives back to normal.

                Re: Queensland Floods

I saw that Kilcoy creek was falling, so went for a drive down from Buderim, though Caboolture and over to Woodford, before I found a completely cut road, but its falling. No idea when Ill get home still.

At least in Woodford, the townfolk were lovely, and there was a cafe there that had Di Bella Coffee, and made it correctly, so it was a pleasant drive in the end

                    Re: Queensland Floods

Brisbane expected to reach 1974 level at 0400 hours Thursday morning and exceed that from then til Saturday.

Was watching the News 24 on TV at noon E.S.T. and saw a dinghy pushed from behind by a guy, and in the middle of it rests a Mazzer Roburgrinder going past the Cold Rock Ice creamery. Looks like hes got his priorities right. He may be a Coffeesnob perhaps or a cafe/restaurant worker.

My and all of Australias thoughts and prayers are with you Q/landers. Keep your chin up (sic) and may this experience make you more resilient and stronger in mental strength.

Australia. A land of contrasts. Heat and drought here in WA,  floods over east.

                        Re: Queensland Floods

Thanks Scoots - all still okay, here. Cant get out, though, because all the streets around us are under water, but hopefully its on its way down now.

Well, I hope so, anyway - Im down to only 2L of milk left and thats only after having two coffees today (Im rationing myself...and turning into a cranky old witch as a result! Might have to go to piccolo lattes tomorrow, or those watchamacallits...the one with the milk stain. )

Still a spare bed here for you two if you want to come up here in two weeks time, although it may be on little pontoons by then.

                        Cheers
                        Di

Phew... I was worried as it sounded like Ipswich got a little crazy after you last posted.

Classic comment from Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale
"If I find anybody looting in our city they will be used as flood markers"
                          ;D

Ah, only in Ipswich could the Mayor be so "non-PC" and say what the rest of us thought.

Perhaps you will see this fashion accessory available in Ipswich in the near future

He is a great Mayor, I have to say - a BIG supporter of the Defence Force and goes out of his way to make anyone from the ADF feel welcome right from the moment they land in the city. Its a nice change where most places you move to consider them a necessary evil.

Petes trying to get through to work today so he can start helping to mop up a bit. I cant get into work in Brisbane City still, of course, so Ill stay here and stop the kids trying to kill each other from cabin fever...
