No hurry getting them to me - it might be a while before we get anything delivered!

Great to hear all is well...apart from the milk issue! Might be time to try something new!

Still a spare bed here for you two if you want to come up here in two weeks time, although it may be on little pontoons by then.

      Cheers

Thanks for that kind offer! Im seriously hoping we will be there with a big red fire truck, helping to clean up peoples homes. All of us who are in voluntary and paid EMS are just itching to get up there to give a hand, I know!

        Re: Queensland Floods

Just arrived home today from family holidays up north. Very fortunate as we received only about 15 minutes rain for the 10 odd days we were there. We were also watching the dramas unfold on TV in our room and at the airport. All that are affected are in our thoughts and prayers. We also feel "helpless" :-[. So please take care and we hope for some good news before long.

        Steve & family.

Anger  Management, Coffee2Di4, Koffee Kosmo, Di Bella and others near the floodwaters, let us know how you are going when you can. Our thoughts are with you.

The river waters north have the colour of coffee if not the flavour.

I expect that many home owners and businesses will face hardship and some even financial ruin from this.

As the creeping flood monster travels south, other Snobs may feel the effects. The water from Queensland can take three months to reach the Murray mouth in SA, causing flooding along the way.

Like the Queen and Prince Charles, yesterday I gave a considerable donation to the Flood relief appeal.

            Wonderful, thanks Barry!

The Hoyks family are still all high and dry. Pete, whos in the RAAF, is out helping mop up the City with the rest of the ADF, Emergency Services staff and wonderful civilian volunteers. I had to go and grab some stuff my daughters school this morning in preparation for school starting, and driving around the roads was just woeful. Piles of household goods piled up outside those houses in Ipswich that flooded. Its pretty tragic to see. It is, however, also the emotional and mental cost of the flood as well. It must be gutwrenching to know that you you are without a house over your head, or you no longer have a business to run, or a job to go to.

A wonderful story that came through was of a man who had only opened up a business (Shade Sails, I think) three days before the floods and he lost everything in his new premises. He had to let the staff go, of course, but all of the staff have agreed to stay on unpaid for a month to help him get the business back up and running. Thank god for unemployment benefits in Australia, I say, and their ability to allow people to do this financially.

Its the small stories like this that keep the positivity up, I have to day.

            Cheers
            Di

              Re: Queensland Floods

As we are high & dry in Brisbane Northern suburbs, we have been helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

My brother s family lives in Gatton, after a nervous couple of days not hearing from them, we found out they are all safe, high & dry,but isolated

A physical couple of days has been spent by us on our holidays helping clean up the muck from houses.

Its a little sureal to go from a devestated suburb helping those you dont know & probably wont see again, no power & a question over the insurance covering the damage, to come home to a hot shower, & now sitting down to a coffee and the internet.

South Bank was colsed Wednesday night, but imagine this, no power throughout the CBD, people starting to emerge & shocked by what they saw and alarms going off in the background. Almost felt post invasion with the only vehicle being an Army truck.

              Just my expierence anyway.

Finally got home. Nervously checked the house, and the only thing that was wrong was the mass of grass on my front lawn which I have now mowed. Am feeling much better now

Sounds very close to nasty. I can only imagine the nervious drive home past the destruction and wondering what you were about to find.

Some good news (a bit of a teaser really)... A whole bunch of site sponsors are donating a pile of equipment and services for a CS charity auction. 100% of the proceeds will go to help those in the soggy north. It should be fun.

More details as soon as all the items are locked in.

That last bit is SO true.....  One extreme to another and in a matter of minutes.....  Pinching ones self does not help....

Fingers crossed that; next week with 4 plus King tides in a row and the LOWS out to sea that we do not see further damage.

Based on PMs I was exchanging with maheel just before Brisbane got hit, I dont think he was planning a holiday. Hopefully it is just a matter of lack of power or internet and no property damage or personal injury, but for now we can just hope everyone in the affected areas is OK.

I am glad to report that I was not affected by flood waters but others at the end of the street were

No electricity for several days and lots of street diversions

Many areas still in clean up mode

tap, tap, tap... still waiting to hear from Mal in Warwick and a few other CSrs in Grafton and Lismore.

The longer I wait to hear the more likely they are having a lousy time without power and double mud.

                                YEP...

No direct news in the papers etc So one can only hope and keep fingers crossed that they are physically safe in teh first instance... And that it is just clean up and possible lack of access or working PCs that is keeping them at bay.

A few friends have taken some bad hits but in general most of teh immediate family have come through all OK.

Only one request for DATA Recovery so far. Thus here is hoping most got to keep pictures and other personal documents safe and sound.
