  • Need Recovery CD Image for ACER Aspire 1680 Laptop

    Hi One and all.

Am looking for a recovery cd/dvd for an ACER  Aspire1680 Laptop.

A lady friend has had for about 5 years and the  60Gig IDE drive failed in a big way.

I have tested with another old spare drive and the hardware looks to be all OK, but do not want to try and find an XP home Install and then all the drivers and apps etc....

Now I may have to in the end, but if some one has a Recovery cd/dvd or a working ASUS 1680 HD that they can image. Then I would be able to use the D2D and or other methods to get her system up and running and remain all Ok with licences etc.

    Just drop me a PM...

    Thanks in Advance.

AM ..... is it an Acer Aspire 1680?

I have an old Acer Aspire 1640 kicking around ..... not sure if it is the same system with just different specs. If it is similar I can try and find any restoration disks if you like.

I will see what I can do tomorrow. I am amazed that your friends machine lasted 5 years ...... mine had 3 warranty claims in the first 12 months and when the wireless network card died at about 18 months it was put in a drawer and my preferred laptop manufactures list was reduced by one!

          I will PM my findings.
