  • A Shout Out to Our Friends Facing Floods...

Hey to anyone in Southern NSW and Northern VIC that are currently experiencing flood waters heading or already inundating businesses or homes...

Just to let you know were thinking of you and of course, if there is anything any one of us can do, other than give a shout out, please let us know! I am sure that the CS community will do what they can!

Personally, I am hoping that I will get called up for deployment through the Rural Fire Service to the areas that need help in the ways Ive been trained for.

Anyway, it would be good to hear from our Wagga friends and any one else in the line of flooding...

pretty hectic time. Weve all been through this before, we had a flood late 2010 so this isnt really a shock. Though this one is expected to be a good metre higher than the last one. currently the entire CBD and surrounding areas are being evacuated.

We feel for our friends now suffering from floods.

Wagga Wagga is certainly living up to its name, Aboriginal for "Plenty Water" or "Big Water".

The present forecast is for a 10.9 flood, equal to the 1844 and 1853 flood records.

In the 1852 flood, the town of Gundagai was washed away and about 90 lives were lost from a population of 250.

Im thinking of all the CSrs in the soggy areas and hope that the sandbags do the job if needed.

Evac of Wagga central surprised me, last time from memory it was only the outskirts that had the evacuation.

I cant help but get a picture in my head of "Moto Coffee" moving to high ground with a long trail of locals following him... something like the coffee pied piper.

Like the imagery there, unfortunately the local dairy was in the evacuation zone so I made some coffees for the locals out of their homes and then I had to stop cause there was no more milk. I thought about going to Coles but I thought I should leave it for peoples personal use.

Hopefully everyone in central should be back by this afternoon but the others will take longer and the cleanup will be massive.

Hi Brett, Bec and family and the other wonderful C.S. folks in Wagga with whom we had such great times . Our thoughts have been with you. Your photo on your facebook says it all Brett. Wow! Just as we imagined from your house. So much water. We are so glad the CBD did not go under. Our thoughts to all the folks who were flooded. Our niece at Kooringal is also high and dry and looking down on the sea of water. May you sell many coffees and also drink and enjoy. You deserve it. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Ah...so great to hear from you guys [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...also great to hear today that the peak was not as high as expected. Seems that they tend to over predict flood heights as they did exactly the same with ours earlier in February.

Heres hoping that Wagga Wagga gets to get back to normal pretty quickly.

They were going off the 74 flood and it was slower to peak so it wasnt as high, all good as far as i am concerned. I would prefer they were over cautious and everyone is safe rather than the alternative.
