There are only the IM contact details under 'Edit Profile'. If you change the Additional Information options you may be able to add something of your liking but this will only appear in your Profile

After clicking on "Settings" at the top of the page you can set your email under "Edit email and password" and your webpage and various instant messaging addy's under the "Optional Information" in the "Edit Profile" page. The two edit pages are accessed via links on the left of the Settings page.

If you add a homepage it will show up with the other options when someone clicks on your name in a post. I suspect the same will be true if you add addy's to any of the IM sites.

          • Is it 1) my memory, or 2) my browser... but do some pre-change posts now have really (really, really) large fonts in places ?

Not the whole post, just where it appears the poster chose a larger size for some sentences or words for emphasis.

Post#24 in this thread for instance.

            • I'm not sure where to put hints and requests--so I'm putting them here! Please transfer to the appropriate place if this isn't it.

"grinders" and "roasters" (the forum areas) probably deserve caps.

Can we please have a "Mark this Forum Read" as a one-click--like the "+ Post New Thread". I use the "Mark..." much more often.

I really liked the green background, while in general I don't like light letters/dark background. This is fine--at least the green colour is still around.

The old software used the font 'point' size (72 pts to the inch.) when being told how big to make the lettering. The new software uses an arbitrary number of 1-7. Any custom designated font size brought over in old posts which was larger than 7 (Which is pretty much any of them as a 7 pt font is really tiny!) is displayed as a 7 size font on the new site.

Double click on the forum's icon on the main page to mark it as read.

The contrast from green to brown certainly addresses the problem of people not being able to see the difference!

Green = unread / not done
                      Roasted = read / finished

                      Made sense to me!

Awesome, that's so much easier to discriminate

                          • Hey, I'm really liking the new forum, but just wondering, is the 30 second wait between searches there for a reason? I've already had it come up for me twice today believe it or not!

                              Yep... Server load.

If you were the only person on here it would be fine but if you have a look at the bottom of the home page this is a seriously busy forum. All those people hammering the database would cause the server to slow.

30 seconds 'aint a long wait and if it encourages better search terms that's a bonus.

Pull an espresso in between searches and everyone's happy.

There is usually some sort of wait between posting and/or searches on database driven websites particularly publically accessible ones. The previous forum was set at 30 secs too I think. Imposed delays serve to foil people/bots trawling or data harvesting techniques (though I don't know how successful that really is) plus it relieves pressure on the site's server. There are probably other technical reasons too. It is easy to double tap a search link (I get them all the time) plus you need to wait between posting and searching or it will happen too.
