      • Now we (I mean Dave) can work on getting the old pictures back into the threads.
        Yay for me!

          With the upgrade does it mean that tapatalk is on the not too distant horizon?
          It would be silly to add another variable at the moment but yes... on the horizon.

          • Something I've noticed: if you click on the Thread Name from the Last Post section of the Forum list, it doesn't necessarily take you to the most recent post in that thread. You need to click on the 'double arrow' icon which, when you mouse-over is helpfully shown as 'Go to the last post'. Here, try for yerself . [Nope, doesn't work from here. You'll have to do it from the main page]

              The difference is so subtle I didn't even notice it, any chance these will be changed such that there is a more distinct contrast like red/blue for ex?
              I agree. Maybe it's my monitor settings/laptop screen angle... But I always have trouble distinguishing the differences between read and unread. It's currently my biggest issue with the forum. I'm sure its on the list, so I haven't said anything. But I want the old bean icons back! Maybe an unroasted and a roasted bean, for unread and read respectively.

              Loving the migration, getting used to the styling.

                  If you do that it doesn't just change the icon to grey. It also marks all the threads in that forum as read, meaning you will loose your 'Go to first new post' link and the highlight on threads with unread posts.

                        Well done! That's a heck of a lot of images.

                          Another way is to go to 'Forum Action' up the top and click the drop down arrow, select 'General Settings'. Here you can select all your preferences including the 'Thread display options'. Select 'Linear Mode - Newest First' and you'll have the last comment of all the threads at the top instead of having to always having to click on 'go to last post'.

                            Clicking on the thread name will take you to the first unread post in that thread. Clicking on the double arrow will take you to the last post in that thread.

                            • RE: Read and Unread notifications...

                              ==========================
                              1 Inactivity/Cookie Based - once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the session timeout option) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies.

                              2 Database (no automatic forum marking) - this option uses the database to store thread and forum read times. This allows accurate read markers to be kept indefinitely. However, in order for a forum to be marked read when all threads are read, the user must view the list of threads for that forum. This option is more space and processor intensive than inactivity-based marking.

                              3 Database (automatic forum marking) - this option is the same as a previous option, but forums are automatically marked as read when the last new thread is read.
                              This is the most usable option for end users, but most processor intensive.

                              ========================

                              The forum was set to #1, as of now its set to #3.
                              If the server overhead is too high I'll have to fudge it again.

                              A.

The Forum/Thread Tools menu can be found in the grey bar just above the threads/posts list.
                                The forum subscription only allows daily/weekly emails, is there an option for instant notifications. I can only see this option for threads only.

                                Heaps of cool functionality on the new software! Well done to all those involved in the transition, I can only imagine the magnitude of this task!
