Would Leo have got away with "GroupHead" as a username for this forum? or (to keep in theme with Leo) "doubledownmebudgysmugglers"? All very subjective. That's why we have policy and moderators. Very funny, pythonesque, thread.

I vote the bloke Caber King of The Highland Games.

I liken it to someone asking me to remove my shoes before walking in their house.

I might think my shoes are clean and that it's silly, but it's their house, so it doesn't really matter what I think.

Just read through this thread again and it caused me to reflect on a couple of things.
There's a different response to authority today to what existed in my youth.
Today many people, particularly young people, question decisions that affect them whereas in my youth we were more likely to just accept it.
Questioning is good of course, but only IF it is done in an intelligent (rational) and courteous way.
Unfortunately that rarely seems to be the case.
Lack of courtesy often seems to be accompanied by lack of common sense. If you are in a low-power or nil-power position you need to mind your manners, a principle not understood by some.
    It's a brave new world...

Not offended, but demeaned! I'm glad this forum has standards and hope that Andy and the Mods will continue that tradition. This site has grown from have a membership akin to a small town to something approaching a regional city is less than a decade. There's a reason for that.

    Best wishes, Russell

As you say Arcade, opinions were asked for and you gave yours. Talk Coffee then gave his opinion. He did not object to you giving your opinion. Nor did he make any personal comment either about or directed at you. He merely stated his opinion. All exactly as it should be.

Unfortunately at this point instead of continuing to discuss/debate the thread topic you reply with insults and disparaging personal remarks.

In this discussion you are the one who comes across as having problems with people who have opinions different than yours.

If you have an issue with the editing/deletion of your post or my comments here feel free to contact me directly. Further posts about this subject will be deleted.

Well, we are in the "off-topic" section so what did you expect?

How about we leave this thread (lock down time mods?) and get back to some intelligent, meaningful discussion about coffee. Maybe we'd all gain something of actual worth then...

Pretending that the 94% equates to those who found his original name unacceptable is deliberately obtuse, at best.

Offensive to me? no, brainless, dim witted, gormless and complete lack of respect or understanding for the emotions/feelings of others and whats more not caring about it? you bet.

We don't really need this sort of "player" in our midst...

    Agreed.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? You honestly don't see how CremaMyPants as a username could possibly be controversial????

I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt, set the t-shirt on fire and then moved on and could not be offended by a silly name in the slightest. However, I can certainly see how it could possibly offend others and, as this is a public forum, I defer to the greater common good and wholeheartedly support Andy's actions in this regard. After all, the username in question would definitely NOT be allowed as a personalised license plate, so why should it be allowed here?

Lastly, while the name didn't offend me, I was annoyed by how the user thought that Coffeesnobs was the appropriate forum for his juvenile, sophomoric sense of humour.
