  • Trix dish washing liquid vs Coles dish washing liquid

I see Trix dish washing liquid has some anti bacterial stuff in it while the Coles brand one doesn't. Does the anti bacterial stuff make any difference? I'm asking because of the recent news about anti bacterial liquid soaps possibly not being any better than plain old soap and water.

Marketing guff in my opinion. All detergents have varying levels of anti-bacterial action. If you want a good detergent but want to save money consider buying a bulk bottle (2.5 or 5 liters) from a warehouse-type supplier like Costco and decant the necessary quantity into smaller bottles for use at the sink.

      I avoid them...

The general line of thought is that anti-bacterial washes, wipes, detergents et al effectively contribute to the process of bacterial natural selection. They kill the good stuff and the nasty resistant stuff survives.

I read somewhere that they have been banned in some places elsewhere on the globe. I think Canada might be one...

Good call. And that's Canada, the home of CANola.

Latest Choice article on dish washing liquid and a few articles on conversation.com link to studies showing no anti-bacterial effectiveness over normal dishwashing liquid.
Also, Fairy Platinum won overall by a solid margin, followed by standard Fairy.
