Help with a ramp soak PID Temp controller ; roaster experts?

I tried to help a friend to get her pottery kiln going and purchase a ramp/soak PID controller and Solid state relay from fleebay

It has a designation set64rs panel mounting and everything is all good except..

The problem is i cannot work out how to initiate the ramp soak cycle. the instructions are Chinglish and ive tried everything, i can get it to work as a regular controller. I have been able to enter the various temperatures and times so that is entered.

I just thought there might be a tinkerer out there who has come across this control and used it in a roaster?

Alternatively if anyone can recommend a ramp soak controller they know works and has a decent instruction set! needs to use a K thermocouple and go to 1200°C.

I use a few from auber instruments in my beer brewing, auberins.com, Temperature control solutions for home and industry

It is open source hardware/software, so you can customise the software and hardware if you need more functionality.

It's not an industrial unit, and isn't exactly plug and play; but is < $100, and you can chat directly with both the hardware and software developers on their forum.

I've been using one to run my DIY roaster, and it works well!

i do normaly tinker but on this occassion just looking for a result. my friend is non techncial so needs a simple setup. She got the kiln cheap but old controls were all shot. i will also look at auber.

The Auber controllers are well made, versatile, good value and straight forward to set up. Difficult to go wrong really...

Hi coffee snobs, i purchased a auber pid controller for my rancilio Silvia. The first 5 months it was working perfectly until one day it decided to shut down and not function any more. I emailed auber in the USA and it only had a 90 day warranty. So getting my money back or replaced with new one was out of question. So they said for me to send it back to the USA and charge me $45 to repair it and that didnt include postage and handling back to Australia. I said you can stick it where the sun don't shine and threw it out. I spent $220 on a device which doesn't need a pid controller the machine works perfectly without the pid. Buyers who are thinking of buying from the states think twice because if it breaks down after 3 months good luck. There is a women that looks like Clint Eastwood selling these on YouTube Seattle coffee something telling how great these pid controllers are. In my opinion these auber pid controller is not worth getting. The Silvia works better with out it. People do your research i did for this pid and my outcome is very disappointed.
