Yes, that particular ad always makes me smile, because I know what's going through Michael's mind.
(It's a scream of horror)
I Googled "Michael, I've bought a Jeep" and the first couple of hits that come up that indicate that the advertising campaign is a bit, lets say, controversial.

Yes there was an article in the W/E Aust recently detailing the historybof vehicke manufacturing and some of the models
overtime that cost the manufacturer big dollars every time their dealers sold one.
I.e Honda S2000, Ford F40, most if not all of the electric hybrid models available today.
Which is polar opposite to poor 'Jane' who proudly told 'Michael' how she bought a JEEP ! YES a JEEP - 'Michael'
Poor dear she's been Loosing money on that decision ever since.
But I spose that's how marketing works

Actually, the Bugatti Veyron was an exercise in pure engineering by Volkswagen to see what could be built without limits on cost or process. The real cost of manufacture is about twice that of the actual selling price, VW soak up the difference. Only 300 will ever be made and then the plant will be shut down.
It's more about VW saying, "Look what we can do." Of course, a lot of 'spin-off' engineering finds its way into various models made by VW so I guess in the end, they will recoup a lot of the development costs expended on the Veyron.
I love the E-Types and a lot of other cars too, but the level of engineering and design put into the Veyron is beyond comparison to the usual high performance so-called Super Cars. It is more on a par with pre-KERS F1 and Le Mans prototypes - Not really practical but an extension of what is possible...

Interesting video.
Great exhaust note.
They're not the best looking car you ever saw, are they, but I guess at that level it's not about how it looks so much as "look at me, I can drop several million bucks on a car".
I'd rather have a concours Series 1 E Type Jaguar and $2,850,000. change.

I might suggest Buggatti put those wraps on before the car left the factory ...to hide the paint job and avoid embarrassment before it reached the USA !
A more interesting car to me is the Tesla "S" EV which can match the Veyron performance at all normal speeds, and carry up to 7 people in silence with zero fuel consumption !
... Oh, and cost a lot less !

It may have great engineering but to be practical I will stick to my Toyota which legally can go just as fast on our roads and has much more luggage and passenger space.

I bet my dealership didn't do the pre delivery of my FJ Cruiser with white gloves on like those blokes did!

It is impressive what they have achieved but if they concentrated more on reducing the weight it would achieve the same performance with less power, and be less taxing on brakes, fuel, tyres etc and be a more nimble machine.
It's a pity most current cars are over complicated and heavy (I guess meeting safety and emission requirements will do some of that), an old 1970s mini I had is still one of the best, most fun and involving cars i have driven. Massive fun at pedestrian speeds.
Cheers

Yep...
Each to their own but I love the engineering put into this beautiful beastie...

Buy GTR, spend the $2.85mil change on it and absolutely chop any car currently in existence.

I have no idea what I would "expect" of a $3million car! But that exhaust note is sure worth something.

That's a unique paint job that's for sure.
If it arrived on my driveway without me having paid for it and being told that it was mine I would be happy. However, if I had to spend $3mil on automobiles, I don't think a Bugatti would make the cut unfortunately.
