Ha, feels like I've logged in to the wrong forum, The Grey Nomads have endless discussions, and I do mean endless, about Napisan type products to use in portable toilet cassettes, sodium percarbonate is the magic ingredient, won't go into the reasons, but it does the job it's meant to do.

Seems any topic discussing bodily functions is of great interest to them, perhaps a regression to childhood fascination with the subject.

Understood, but I've seen prices range per my previous post. I purchased 1kg of the Cafetto Espresso Clean yesterday from my local stockist for $18; which is their regular price. I could have purchased the Evo from the same place for the same price.

Not bloody likely, even though the other components on the MSDS are 1% each of four different digestive enzymes that occur naturally in plants and animals.

But then I wouldn't drink cafetto either, the two main ingredients in it and the soaker are the same and they are both on the MSDS for the same reason.

Suggest you drink some and let us know how you go with whatever the other 26% of ingredients in their stuff may be.

I'm all for the environment but I use so little when doing my fortnightly chemical backflush, I wonder if it would make any difference to the environment. Just to follow up, I checked the material safety data sheets for both products and they seem to be made from the same ingredients:

    3. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS

Ingredients Name | CAS | Proportion
    Sodium percarbonate | 15630-89-4 | 10 - 30%
    Sodium carbonate | 497-19-8 | 10 - 30%
Ingredients determined | Not required | Balance
    not to be hazardous |

I decided to try it on all our tea-stained cups. I loaded the cups in the dishwasher, put the backwash detergent in the dispenser and ran a quick cycle.

Result: they were still stained, but it was easier than before to wipe off by hand. I think that qualifies as a fail. Maybe I should have used higher temp/longer time. Dunno.
