Couldn't imagine anything worse than a low carb/high protein/high fat diet. You can keep your ketosis thanks
Ha, Heather just made a batch of orange marmalade today, very noice it is too, sourdough toast? yep, big tick, good butter, also good

"low carb/high protein/high fat diet" not for me.

Sounds like LeroyC is the only one that knows what he's talking about in regards to diet, what makes you fat and what doesn't.
Dr Karl wouldn't know s@#t when it comes to diet due to his medically old fashioned misguided knowledge that he was tauggt 25-30yrs ago. The British dieticians association is exactly the same but are also tied to the food industry whom have commercial interests, ie. lots of money invested in the 'recommended dietry guidlines', along with most other countries including the good ol' US and of course Aust. Of course they're going to say it's a fad, because they wouldn't be selling their processed sh#t to the masses if we actually new the effects. As usual we say everything in moderation, so is that like smoking is ok in moderation? Taking poison in moderation? Sniffing petrol in moderation? Drinking fertilizer in moderation? We've been telling that line to the population the last thirty or forty years and look how thats working. More health professionals are starting to argue against the money making food and pharmaceutical industries and slowly they're getting the message through. Remeber there was some crazy person that argued the world was round and not flat? People did eventually believe him, but he was lucky, he didn't have multi national industries who had billions of $ at stake.

Also it's not a high protein diet, its Low 'processed' carb, moderate protein roughly a gram of protein per body weight and high fat, thats healthy fats including saturated, yes animal fat, coconut oil, heaps of butter anything with full fat. Nothing with processed vegetable oils or highly refined fats, margarine, soy and also none of the low fat full of sugar garbage. If anyone bothered researching the science, the data which isn't funded by commercial interests can see how our diet and health for that matter has nose dived. If the average consumer actually bothered to see what happens to the body when consuming sugar or processed carbs you may start realising what the long term damage is being done to them and their family. If they realised how they could change their general health if they just cut out a couple of types of processed foods from our diets that we consume a number of times a day.

You know why you over eat? The processed carbs or sugars don't fill you, they lack nutrients and so a couple of hours later you need more and so it goes on and on and on until 15-20 years down the track you've possibly put on 15-20kgs, pre type 2 diabetic, fatty liver, inflammation, tired. You go to the doctor and Dr Karl says "hey Ill give you some meds to mask the problems you have, and the pharmaceutical companies are happy you're giving them your money."

True or not, I happen to enjoy eating bread, pasta, rice etc... and will happily continue to do so until I'm 80 or 90 something. Sure... you might live a week or two longer (maybe) but I'll have had a lot more fun along the way

Spoken like a true sugar addict, Id prefer to spend my last 10 years enjoying them and not frequenting hospitals, specialists, oncologists. Have seen too many since I've been working in the health industry the past 20 odd years, good luck mate 😉

I'm a winemaker and a coffee roaster so complex sugars are indeed my life. And... hate to break this to you but unless you happen to think that your carb free diet grants you immortality the truth is that you too will die of something and that visits to hospitals, specialists and/or oncologists are most likely in your future as well. I mean... seriously... it's not like too many get to go through life all happily ever after and then suddenly one day your power switch just gets turned off.

Did I ever say I was immortal? You seem pretty sure that you'll make 80 or 90yrs well over the average these days. And I never said I was carb free. See that's what I mean people jump to the conclusion that it's no carb, high protein etc etc. But they're happy to believe you can put on a 'special ointment', drink a 'special tea' and buy another medication but if you say it's proven because of x, y and z it's the usual, "I'm not giving up this or that." Just amazing.

I have examined your condition and have come up with the following diagnosis:

An acute case of self-righteous pontificatus

This chronic condition can be treated with a generous dose of humble pie (with extra sugar and flour of course)

FYI... I happen to be Canadian and the median life expectancy for males is 81.24 years, and come from a family where the average male life expectancy is 90+ so was merely going by the data at hand

Lastly... you're the one who mentioned: "...Not eating any bread, pasta, rice etc." which sounds pretty carb free to me

In any event, I wish you all the best with your course of treatment.

"Just amazing" back at ya ;-)

Oh a Canadian, well maybe you can research Dr Jay Wortman, a fellow Canadian, you might listen to what his views are and not take mine. While your at it research what carbs are and not just the ones on your coco pops box 😆

For every Dr jay Wortman there will be Drs A, B and C... who will disagree so who really cares?

Like I said... I like my carbs... very tasty

Now please pontificate elsewhere because I am the brick wall you are beating your thick head against
