Clever Consommé Dripper?

So, I had some tomatoes that were going to go bad and I decided to make a consomme (too much Masterchef?). I had all the ingredients but the recipe called for using a muslin cloth to filter the broth which I didn't have. Fortunately I did have an old CCD that I stopped using when I got an Aeropress. Perfect.

Hah, definitely some fruity notes, also some surprisingly meaty ones (maybe umami - whatever that is?).

I have done this often to clarify stocks, can take a while but ends up really clean.

I seem to recall tomatoes have naturally occurring MSG :-).
