Would cookware from IKEA be a lot better than cookware from KMart or Target?

I hadn't considered that. I'm currently using a gas stove top but I don't know how long I'll be living here for.

A further thing to consider - I have a chef grade set of top quality stainless (24/48 under that standard) which has served me well since the'70's. Unfortunately the new induction cooktop needs lower grade, magnetic stainless. Ironically, my other set (about 1/6 the price or less) works just fine...Originally posted by pamount View PostI've got a list of things I'd like to buy from IKEA like this IKEA 365+ cookware set

Although I have noticed they have cheaper cookware sets, like these

SKÄNKA 6-piece cookware set - IKEA
How would IKEA's cookware sets compare in quality to those at KMart or Target? Would the IKEA ones last longer and maybe perform better with cooking?
I've been thinking glass lids are better but would it be better somehow to have metal lids instead? Like would metal lids keep the heat in better, or wouldn't it make much difference?
If you are even contemplating going induction (I would, it is even better than gas) then going too high up the stainless steel grades may not be a good idea.

Not sure on the usability (i.e. accuracy of heat dispersion) of the Ikea stainless sets but build quality should be reasonable.
If you can stretch your budget then maybe look at the following (tried and tested with great results and definitely made to last):

If your are after something with a fry pan also:
