  • Biggest Supermoon in more than an 80 year period this month!

Last month's full moon and December's full moon were/will be supermoons. However - this November's full moon will be the closest it's been to the Earth since January 26, 1948—the next similarly large supermoon won’t occur until November 25, 2034. So get out and enjoy the big moonrise on the 14th.

Clear skies are the gotcha here in the next couple of days... will be lucky to see it with cloud cover.

It's looking like it should be great viewing here on both the 13th and 14th.

Not much chance of viewing it here in mid north SA, back to winter, overcast, wind and rain, bugger.

Well, the "Supermoon" just looks normal here.

Nice clear sky, no clouds but just like a regular full moon.

Been checking occasionally in case it gets "bigger".............

Hmmmmm, the clouds have cleared, good viewing conditions, nice full moon, nothing really out of the ordinary though.

Yep, looks like a full moon...

Must say I have seen it appear way bigger previously when it wasn't a super moon.

                      Cheers

As an aside when the moon is just coming over the horizon and it appears absolutely HUGE it is an optical illusion. To see that this is so turn away from the moon and then bend over and look at it from between your legs. It will appear very noticeably smaller. This Supermoon is visually ~14-15% larger than normal by actual measurement.

I was a little underwhelmed - but I was hoping for a "Bruce Almighty" type arrangement
                          But nice moon though…
