Often like that in altona, Vic. Especially when a bit cloudy as the refinery flares reflect back from the clouds. It can be like an overcast day at midnight and it happens often.

Earthquakes in NZ and subsequent tidal wave has been blamed on the super moon.
There were some awesome blue flashes as energy was released from the ground around Wellington.

It was crazy bright at 10-11pm last night and threw great shadows in the paddock, nearly hard to stare at it was so bright but I didn't really notice the size difference.

I was a little underwhelmed - but I was hoping for a "Bruce Almighty" type arrangement
    But nice moon though…

As an aside when the moon is just coming over the horizon and it appears absolutely HUGE it is an optical illusion. To see that this is so turn away from the moon and then bend over and look at it from between your legs. It will appear very noticeably smaller. This Supermoon is visually ~14-15% larger than normal by actual measurement.

Yep, looks like a full moon...

Must say I have seen it appear way bigger previously when it wasn't a super moon.

    Cheers

Hmmmmm, the clouds have cleared, good viewing conditions, nice full moon, nothing really out of the ordinary though.
