  • Leonard Cohen, what a loss.

I know, a bit late with this post, he died in early Nov 2016.

Great artist and song writer, a loss to the world, he left a wonderful legacy.

Yes, 2016 was quite a tragic year and not just for fans of Leonard Cohen. But there's still a silver lining for some:

Keith Richards outliving anyone puts him up there as the 8th wonder of the world.

Disagree. I think my post was on topic: Leonard Cohen was just one casualty of 2016; Keef was inexplicably a survivor.

Meh, the whole category in the forum is called 'Off Topic' anyway! If it wasn't deviating from the initial thread purpose, maybe it doesn't belong in this section of the forum

                Not worth arguing the toss.

Big fan of Cohen. Remarkable life.
Now I feel sad that I missed his concert tour of Australia. Common sense should have told me that it was likely to be his last.
Apparently it was a fabulous effort with the old guy on stage for hours.
My wife always used to say she found him dirgy and depressing but I always found him spiritual and uplifting.
His "Hallelujah" was one of the greatest songs ever written IMHO.

Yep sad loss, the Jeff Buckley (another very sad loss) version of Hallelujah is inspired/ing IMO. Peter Sarstedt also got his wings very recently, RIP boys.

Didn't know about Peter Sarstedt. I just listened to his three big hits in his memory.
Apparently he was quite prolific so I will chase up some of his other work.

                        Similar sentiments here Rocky.

While my wife enjoys his work I'm not sure she's as big a fan as I am.

Did anyone see the recent ABC documentary "I'm your Man" excellent viewing, from the ABC site "An intimate look at the late musician's songs, poetry, personal photographs, his colourful past and the creative process that made him a legend. (Leonard Cohen 1934 - 2016)"
Unfortunately no longer available in iview.

Sad to hear about Peter Sarstedt too...
A very clever chap and a great musician and song-writer too.

I'm beginning to feel my age now...

                          Mal.
