Sugar IS addictive however and the more you eat, the more you want to eat.
I allow myself a couple of squares of chocolate after my evening meal (no desserts in this family) and I could easily weaken and have more but I figure I am already getting enough sugar daily from fruit, vegies and the processed foods that are loaded with it. Same with fat. Some friends freaked out when they served me a big juicy Pork chop and I cut every bit of fat off it. (they have Diabetes and a weight problem, I don't).
Regarding the pork fat, my family, we use animal fats (if needed) for cooking purposes.

I don't have diabetes but I'm still dying, day by day.

    If you're sensible.
Just another irresponsible headline grabbing journalist IMHO.
The article has all the basics right ans states the bleeding obvious, but the problem is most people just don't get it.
Michael Jarovski is not "quitting sugar", because he is already on the health and fitness path, balancing the fuel in the tank/energy used principle.
I've said this before; "diet" drinks and food are more evil than sugar, results in weight gain and other related illness.
It's the hidden added sugars in all processed/packaged food that people need to curb.

Food is medicine and medicine is food, always has been.
We all know the body needs fat and sugar for energy.
If you keep putting $80 of petrol in your car every week and only use $60 worth/week, it has to overflow.

After marrying someone with type 1 diabetes, and deciding to stop the sugar in the coffee, just to keep life simple, what came next were much happier visits to the dentist. So reduced sugar has been flavour of the month for 33 years. Some people do really stick to change. So now enjoy espresso, or lingo if it pours a little fast, or long black.

Why I won't be quitting sugar in 2017

"I refuse to be a sheep in the flock

Maybe I'm a natural born cynic, but I refuse to follow the crowd, and as the fat free-ers turned into lemon detox-ers then paleo followers and now no sugar? I see less individuality and more sheep herding and trend devotees."

Plenty of common sense without hysteria in this article penned by Michael Jarosky.
