  • The Coffee Man starring Sasa Sestic

I just watched The Coffee Man film. It's a cool little movie that gives a small insight into both Sasa Sestic and barista comps.
Have any other CSers watched it? If so, did you also spot someone familiar loitering in the background at the WBC during Sasa's semi final performance? It's just after the 1hr mark of the film. I have a screen shot, but I think posting it would probably break copyright laws.
Gotta say I'm a bit jealous of said loiterer - would've been awesome to be there.

I haven't seen it but I can take a pretty good guess as to who you spotted. Would they perhaps bear some resemblance to this character?

I've watched a bit of it last week about 20 minutes. Haven't had time to watch all of it, but It's really good so far. Sasa is definitely an interesting character! Incredibly driven and talented.
His daughter (about 13/ 14 y.o.) does some really good narration.

I recommend. Actually, I'll Offer to lend it to anyone when I'm finished with it. (Tip: I got it for $10 from Maling Room when I bought some coffee there.)

A bit like that JP, just a bit further into ZZ Top mode as far as the beard goes. LOL.

Hmmm.... I didn't sign a release for that cameo appearance (didn't even know about it!)

It was an exciting day and he performed great, it was a well deserved win for a good guy who loves the industry and as a roaster, carries none of the rock-star ego that so many in a Barista comp have.

I actually missed my plane that night and spent an extra day stateside. Lucky for me Javaphile still had the room so I didn't have to sleep at the airport. ;-)

This doco is available on Qantas onboard entertainment for anyone planning on flying soon. Unfortunately it wasnt long enough to put a decent dent in my long haul back to the UK...

It's amazing to see the level of skill and dedication that goes into those competitions.

I watched it on a flight to the US.
i was shocked that they carried their own equipment ( inc grinders !) in their luggage to the USA...
....until the part where someone had to be a "mule" and carry several (many) liters of milk from Australia to the USA in their luggage without declaring it at either end......WTF !
