Upgrading later and passing on makes sense.
Good time of year to be buying this stuff, pretty sure we got the glass one in a post Christmas sale a couple of years ago at a good price.
They also have higher-tech bases with an LCD but for me, that's just too much eletrickery to go wrong. The simpler button bases (both ours are the same) work well.

When should I replace my electric kettle?

Thanks Andy. I got a cheaper model of Breville electric kettle, a stainless steel one. It is at this link (though it was a bit cheaper where I bought it).Originally posted by Andy View PostI was going to suggest that.
We use Breville cordless temperature adjustable at home (glass) and at work (stainless) and love 'em.
Great for setting to 95C or lower for consistent tea.

The glass one is easier to keep clean, and easier to see when it needs a clean and the stainless one has been hammered for years without a hint of a problem.
I would replace with the same if they ever die.

When I get more work I might consider the models you've shown me. If I buy one I'll give my current one to a friend.

The quality makes it hard to see exactly, but they does look like an alarmingly large amount of water for an electric appliance. If it were mine I would replace it.

I reckon that the kettle is starting to leak through the base. Ten years is a pretty good innings for one of those.

I don't think it's "suddenly more than previous". I don't remember what it was like when I first bought it, over ten years ago. The instruction manual says it is normal to see some water appearing on the base but it just seems like a lot of dripping, although its not like I've compared it to other electric kettles.Originally posted by level3ninja View PostIs the amount of water suddenly more than previous? The link to the video is below, sorry if it's not the best way of filming it.

When should I replace my electric kettle?
I've owned my Russell Hobbs cordless electric kettle for over ten and a half years now. It still works but I'm concerned about the amount of water than appears on the base of it. The instruction book says it is normal to see water on the base. I think what happens is the condensation under the lid causes water to drip down the back of the kettle near the handle. Does this sound safe?
I've got a video of this happening on my iPhone. Who should I show it too, to see if it's safe or not?Tags: None
