I wound up buying a pair of chino trousers from UNIQLO. They are 97 percent cotton and 3 percent elastane. The price included getting the length adjusted. I also bought a second pair online, they only had one pair my size in the store.Last edited by pamount; 8 February 2018, 11:45 PM.

I've been getting cotton chinos (98% cotton, 2%spandex) from Costco. They're the Costco brand - $25 pair. I've found them to be really good.

One of the firms that advertise through flyers in the weekend papers (Charles Tyrwhitt) do chinos that are 100% cotton and priced at about $69. I've bought quite a bit of their stuff and it is reasonable quality (you can customise shirt sizes too).Originally posted by pamount View PostI'm in Melbourne. Finding a good brand of wash and wear trousers for work (in an office) for under $100 that isn't 100 percent man made material is a bit of a headache for me. I found UNIQLO advertises a wash and wear trousers that are 58 percent cotton, with the rest being man made fibre, for around $50. Would that be reasonable quality? I'm just mindful of the recent hot weather we had here in Melbourne. By wash and wear I mean something I can stick into a washing machine.

Yep! cotton shirts are a delight to wear, and it really is nice to have shirts that fit well.
I've bought most of my shirts from the US over the past 20 years, sizing is so much better, choice of sleeve length and being tall longer tails, nothing worse than a shirt with cuffs halfway up your arms and you have to keep tucking it into your slacks because the body/tail are too short.
Sadly natural fibres are becoming more difficult to find and obviously more expensive.

I love the custom fitted shirts, i dont wear them day to day like you would, so not sure how they go long term. Im a slimfit and thought i was a normalish sort of fit, but i dont actually find a lot of shirts that fit really well.
They custom assemble the shirts to your measurements, and you can send them back if they dont fit perfect. As i said my first cuffs were 1/2" too small, fixed on the following shirts.
I recommend a custom shirt as a present to yourself.
In fact i think i should buy myself another

It doesn't breath as well as full cotton or full wool, for that matter, so you can get more of a problem with sweating on a hot day. That's why the suit I wear, on occasion, is 100 percent wool.Originally posted by boblinder View PostWhy go away from man made?

Thanks for that. I'll check them out.Originally posted by Jackster View PostI have had a few dress shirts hand made. I think they are teddington. Im sure you could get pants similarly.
Pickashirt was the mob. 100% cotton chinos are 69. Wool trousers are 99.
I dont wear office clothes, but i guess chinos are what you are chasing.
I am impressed with my shirts. Custom fitted. First shirt was little small on the cuff. I could have returned it but didnt bother. Fixed on the next shirt!

I've recently started getting rid of my polyester/cotton work shirts and replacing them with shirts that are 100 percent cotton (except for one which is 96 percent cotton and 4 percent elastane).
I just find a lot of the places sell wash and wear trousers that are 100 percent man made in material and I want to get away from that if possible.Last edited by pamount; 6 February 2018, 01:13 AM.Tags: None
