Freight company recommendations

Yeh, considering that many local branches are run by franchisees, it is hard to generalise. There's one company I will avoid whenever possible after having two (yes, two) PVRs that I'd ordered go 'missing' immediately after I spoke to the driver who assured me that 'I'm looking at the parcel right as we speak, and I will deliver it to you within 1 hour'. This happened to both the original parcel, and the replacement parcel. This company allowed insurance on the deliveries and the vendor (sender) of the goods told me that a miraculous number of items disappear into thin air. But I wouldn't be surprised if the some company has quite a respectable record delivering through other franchisees.

It's pretty rare to find a company that ticks all those boxes all the time.Originally posted by Mb21 View Posthoping to get some recommendations on freight companies to used that are fairly priced, reliable and do a good job.
Every company has good and terrible staff and the luck of the draw can be the difference between smiles and tears.

I’ve sent quite a few bike frames and wheelsets interstate using couriers. I highly recommend https://au.interparcel.com/ for getting quotes from a range of different couriers. Startrack express is regularly the cheapest for me from Perth and it has been reliable.

I can strongly recommend Couriers Please, have used them many times with excellent service and results. Booking through interparcel I've also found them almost ridiculously cheap. No hassles whatsoever insuring a second-hand grinder ($1000 cover added about $5 to the price from memory).
Conversely, e-go have absolutely destroyed some expensive stuff of mine and were a nightmare to deal with. So I wouldn't recommend them.

I'm also currently looking into this and am looking at using a backloading service that does door-to-door pick up and deliver (state to state) that I have previously used for antique furniture. It's not cheap (got quoted $450 to pick up and deliver a 40kg machine from NSW to Adelaide) but they inspect goods for you before taking them (and call you if any issues), and ensure all goods are treated as fragile (they specialise in antiques after all) . They also offer discounts for multiple items and/or if you use them in subsequent months. They usually get back to you in a couple of hours to provide the quote once you submit it online.
If you're interested, their (designed in the 80's webpage
) is here: https://www.backloadingspecialists.c...ckloading.html

Good value for consignments of any weight.
You select the carrier from the list based on time and price that suits.
...but make sure you get the physical dimensions and weight correct when booking as their charges later are at a higher rate.
Create a login to the site and you get better rates than the anon front page too.

I recently used Sendle to send a grinder from NSW to SA and found them very reasonable. They picked the grinder up, and communication/ tracking was great.
Would definitely use again.
I note the max they list is 25kg - may need to speak to them to see if they do any heavier depending on what you are sending
