Ill never understand that you can break your arm collarbone or whatever

But you break the smallest bones in your body and your up for a small fortune?
Idiot kid on his skateboard ive suggested hey your working now, consider if thats still a good idea...
Dislocated his wrist and broke two teeth, at least had his helmet on after years of reminders...

Sorry venting more then anything, as even thou hes working and was the twit that did it, dad feels oblidged to help him.... coffee machine has to wait longer....
As the er nurse said, teeth are luxury bones, at least we have the system we have here instead of like US...

Rant over and still cant go make a coffee....

I still skate but need to take extra care now, just can't justify the risk of trying certain things anymore. Not only does it take longer to recover generally but a serious injury would be a disaster for my business.

I just ordered an electric longboard for commuting and fun, not a chance I'll get on that thing without a helmet and will probably wear wrist guards as well.

Yep. It's not too late, they do make them with a beginner mode just for cases like yours. Once you're comfortable on it, you can turn up the power.

I've been holding off buying one for some time due to QC problems that plagued most of the mid-range brands. The only ones who were reputable and reliable were $1.8k-2k high end boards and I wasn't prepared to pay that.
With the most recent model releases earlier this year from the popular Chinese brands, the reviews have been mostly positive, citing the manufacturers listening to user feedback and modifying and upgrading their boards accordingly.
The one I picked ships with two different sized wheels and the ability to change the drive wheel grips without needing to remove the hub motor. Parts are also readily available and replaceable by the user.

The new ones give a reported fairly consistent 20-25km range with no noticeable power loss until the last 10% of the battery. We'll see if that holds true, that's certainly more than enough range for me and I would suspect the average user.
