  • Watch and weep tv

Spruiker on one of the TV shopping channels a few seconds ago standing in front of a blaupunkt tv he is breathlessly flogging...

"I'll just stand aside so you can see the incredible colours".

Yep, compared to my 8 year old TV I'm watching all this on during a channel surf... those colours sure looked much better.

But surely you would have noticed that the resolution of the Blaupunkt TV would have been much higher than your old TV. When it was being shown you should have seen this in the area of your screen that was showing the Blaupunkt screen.

Much like the people who watch HDTVtest comparisons on YouTube and then comment how they can't see any difference (on their device screens).

"Watching" King Arthur Legend of the Sword made 2 years ago. Gee, amazing how Medieval men were state of the art in 2000s hair styles....long on top, shaved/short sides.

Robusto, a similar thing is historical fiction TV series that are replete with modern cliche phrases and sayings.
I keep waiting for Hamlet to say "So, to be or not to be...like, that is the question..."
          "Vikings" was a major offender.

Tragic, isn't it. Especially with the historically illiterate present generation who probably swallow it up as authentic.
Give me Charlton Heston any day!
...Or, failing that, Ben Elton with this "boobicans" in Upstart Crow.

Incidentally, I think of the totally superfluous, meaningless "and I was, like, OMG..." etc as a caricature, and expect either 14 year old kids to utter it...or absolute dimwit adults so ignorant and immature that they don't know it is a juvenile cliche.

              Hmmm...
Starting to sound a bit like Grumpy Old Men...

Grumpiness is the prerogative of the wise.
OMG! I like that! Yes I do. And to think that I was like, I just made it up.
