OCD's post reminded me of a crazy mate I had in high school (circa 1970).
His dad had two cars - a Falcon Fairmont V8 and a Morris Major (for mum).
Ian would mostly get the Major to go out with we boys. He couldn't resist revving it up and dropping the clutch and every time he would break the rear axle.
His dad couldn't work out why this car kept breaking axles. He would have had a heart attack if he'd seen what we did in the Fairmont V8.
    That's the one, Rocky!!

I'd have it again in a heartbeat, and often regret that I sold her instead of fixing the head gasket. The old girl was immaculate, and all original. Only real cons of those cars were poor economy to the tone of about 12L/100km, and the fragile top ends on the 7M engines. Pros of the Grande that I had were that Toyota decided to stick a Hilux LSD in the back, so they were bulletproof! The straight 6 hummed along smooth as can be, and the transmission was beautiful for an older auto! It was essentially like driving a nice leather couch to work every day :-)
