You are very right Java, Andy's suggestion makes a lot of sense. Would be easy to store a bunch of these in every state for flood, fire or whatever else comes. This lot will be recirculated after this use but that is only NSW, would be nice if every state had similar

Stop making sense Andy! The Rulers hate it when their subjects do that!

Good on the State Government and the Forrests, that's a ripper story and good to see the local councils aren't giving them grief (that sort of thing happened locally after other fires).

Saw this earlier in the week which may not have been publicised outside NSW, 115 shipping container 'homes' being delivered around NSW to bushfire victims who have lost their houses. Paid half by the state government and half by the Minderoo Foundation. The Minderoo Foundation is Andrew and Nicola Forrest. Nice to see bushfire victims aren't forgotten in these new times.
I'd been wondering how those people were going who are still homeless and needing to practice social distancing. What a horrid year 2020 has been...

I purchased a property at the Gold Coast in 2012. Dealt with about 20 real estate agents, asked each one about flooding, 19 of them lied.

I had already downloaded the local authority flood maps and knew exactly where it floods. Regrettably about 80% is capable of flooding, the other 20% is on the coastal strip and subject to tsunami risk.

I was flooded in the 1974 Brisbane flood and have lived on hilltops ever since.

I don't think you can relate that decision to the bushfire disasters but if your point is that premiums will increase everywhere as insurance companies attempt to recoup their losses from a tough summer, I agree. It will be a fine line between maintaining profitability and pricing their customers out of the market.

And here we have it, someone using a little common sense.

"Melbourne University fire ecologist Kevin Tolhurst said there were some areas of the Australian bush where houses should never have been built — or rebuilt.

"People shouldn't be surprised that if the house burns down, that they're not going to be allowed to rebuild because that property has perhaps already been identified as one that's in a place too dangerous to live," Dr Tolhurst said."

This also may explain why generally Christians of that ilk are not environmentalists or conservationists. When you see protesters at marches or in the forests doing what they believe needs to be done to protect our environment, or Greens in Parliament pushing for environmental protections I don't see Christian groups supporting them. One might have thought that the would have been prominent in protecting the wonderful environment that "God had given us", but no. If anything it's the Humanists that side more with the environment as they believe that We are responsible for what happens to us and no God is there to intervene.

Entertaining indeed and also displays the nature of the hollow arguments being used by deniers.
Need more of this, calling our useless pollies to account.

No fan (the opposite) of Piers Moron (credit Hislop), but to see one righty verbally assalt another on the subject of climate denial is value entertainment. Carefull Kelly, Piers will have his hackers and hangers on trawling through and publishing your life in the interests of "news" cough, splutter.
