Yep! more blind Stewards! and agree about the 'conflict of interest' - Bernie lives!
But what about some of those passing moves and the close racing.
Regarding Mercedes dominance - I will have to disagree with Oscar Wilde and say that it is a case of "Art imitates life".

Well no surprises to see Mercedes right up there. Envision totally deserved a penalty there too - how can Marbula E have any integrity when one of the teams is also a title sponsor? Clearly a lack of impartiality with the marble-stewards for this race.

Fantastic, been looking forward to this one. I hope Mercedes doesn't dominate yet again...

Round 3 of the 'Marbula GP' - Jakarta - is now available. Great watching!
I love it that there are people out there with a big enough sense of humor to go to the immense trouble required to set this up.
With all the bad stuff going down around the World, we need more of this kind of thing.

It's always hard in F1 to determine the pecking order when there's such disparity between teams, however whilst I've never liked the guy I'm prepared to concede that Lewis has been one of the best at least in the modern era. Yes he's had the best car since 2014, however the number of mistakes he's made has been minute and the way he absorbs pressure is immense. I think the frustrating beauty of F1 is that the idea of sticking all of the drivers in the same machine to work out who is the best will never happen!
The following analysis is quite interesting: https://f1metrics.wordpress.com/2019...trics-top-100/ There's a lot of explanation of the assumptions in the model so it's all pretty transparent - it's a long read but quite interesting really for those who follow F1 and are aware of its history.

Yes, F1 is the most ruthless of sports. Young talent coming along all the time and if you are not performing you are going to get bumped out.
Sainz will give Le Clerc a bit of a run for his money. Meanwhile Max is on track for a WC in the near future. If Lewis didn't have such a superior car her would be struggling against the new talent. Lewis is nothing special and Dan in the same car would be a real challenge.

The media like to talk things up, however the young cohort are quite exciting and appear to be a really high-quality bunch. As for Dan, Red Bull have shown that they are almost as bad as Ferrari at the internal team-mate politics and I think his experience in 2018 would have been a factor in not choosing to go with Ferrari as they have clearly built the team around Leclerc. That is what Ferrari does for better or worse, and to be fair Leclerc does seem to have the talent to warrant it!

A few years back one of the teams were a Ferrari customer with their old-spec engine from the previous year (can't remember which one) so it has happened before. However it benefits the engine manufacturers to have customers running their latest spec engines as they can get all the running data to help improve performance/reliability.

Yep, I agree it is probably the best of a bad lot for Dan. Ferrari tend to just see the second driver as a 'roadblock' for the No.1 and Dan isn't good Number 2 material. It would have been interesting to see him up against a much younger and very talented man in Le Clerc but could also have been a re-run of the Dan Vs Max scenario. The young guns just seem to have that extra fire that makes them hard to beat.

Thanks CH...
Must have it confused with another manufacturer.

Nah, same spec engine. Teams who construct their own engines have the benefit of producing an engine with dimensions that suit their bodywork, whereas customers don't get that choice and therefore lose a bit of advantage. The Mercedes has been the best engine since the new turbo/hybrid regs came in - Ferrari seemed to have finally exceeded them last year but a sudden drop in performance towards the end of the season followed by some confidential out-of-court settlement seems to indicate they were doing something illegal. When the next new set of regs kick off in 2022 it is hoped the field will tighten up with a budget cap and less advantage for engine constructors.
In my opinion Dan is better off going to McLaren, he would've been second-fiddle at Ferrari and that's not his bag. It'll be tough at McLaren but they are genuinely on a performance incline and had a great aero package last year, easily beating Renault as a customer of their engines.

Does Mclaren get the same Mercedes donk as the works team?Originally posted by Rocky View PostAll is revealed - Sainz to Ferrari and Dan to McLaren. It will be interesting to see whether McLaren can drag themselves up out of mediocrity with a Mercedes engine in the 2021

When Daniel Ricciardo when to Renault a few years back, a mate said "he's timing is perfect, the end of 2020 there are many contracts ending", fully expecting a move to Ferarri or Mercedes. Renault to McLaren... seems a baby step and made worse with the news:
"The British Formula One team-owner McLaren Group is in talks to raise up to £275m by mortgaging its spectacular Surrey headquarters and one of the world's most valuable historic car collections." A McLaren spokesperson said: “Like many other British businesses McLaren has been severely affected by the current pandemic and is therefore exploring a variety of different funding options to help navigate these short-term business interruptions.”
I also heard Max being Max with a dig at the Italian sounding name not going to Ferrari. He would have to be the least likeable guy in the paddock.
I wish Dan lots of luck, suspect he'll need it to get close the front-end.
