  • Recommended Internet Provider

I am just about to ditch my current NBN internet provider.

I live in NSW....Can anyone recommend a company that has really good service and technical help when necessary and can you explain why you think that they would be worthy another customer?

Aussiebroadband are good, they have Australian based support which I've heard good things about (haven't needed support myself). They have a good network and publish their CVC graphs (which tell you how congested their network is) and have a good track record of increasing bandwidth where necessary.

After being with TPG for well over 10 years, I found that their newly-abysmal service was too much to bear. You can no longer talk to a 'technician'. All help is now done via a chat window that keeps dropping out. Each new time meant a wait behind over 150 others! If you can't get onto the internet for any reason you are stuffed!

I jumped ship today and I feel as if a burden has been lifted.

The icing on the cake was when I tried to contact TPG sales this morning and was kept waiting for 30 minutes and STILL didn't get to speak to anyone.

I rang Aussie Broadband, selected a plan and they became my provider within half an hour.

I sent TPG a 'letter of dismissal', asking them to acknowledge my request.

Speaking to the new guys was pleasant and refreshing. I truly hope that they can maintain their level of service.

          Thanks for your input, guys!

(Andy....A $50 credit should be coming your way.)

... sigh ... Yep, TPG in my view is just an asset stripper. When they bought my 10 year+ ISP - iinet - my heart sank. Within three months the speed and service plummeted so I moved on. FWIW, I am now with Mate Telecom and their service & support (Oz call centre) has always been excellent. Happy camper here...

I'm sure they will, real people who care enough to sort a problem seems an odd formula for a sales/help desk these days, I would be surprised if anyone does it as well as Aussie.

Some of the other "Australian help desk" ones (like Mate/Barefoot) have pretty limited hours, Aussie does 8am to Midnight every day of the week and my experience has been next to no wait times. The one time I had to wait the recorded message told "Dad Jokes" instead of horrid hold muzak, it was weird laughing on hold instead of swearing profusely.

(The BeanBay credit is in there too)
