  • RATM are coming

    Hi all,

Dont know how many people here would listen to them, or heard of them, but Rage Against the Machine are my favourite band. They broke up seven years ago and only ever came to AUS once, which was a one concert show in WA for a BDO i think, but they reformed to play one show in the usa and now there right back into it and have set dates for Sydney and Melbourne which is good for all there fans who thought they would never get to see them.

Hopefully they do a gig in QLD other than the big day out cause around the time their tour is planned I should have a 2 week old baby which cancells a full day away completely but I could manage a couple of hours at night (fingers tightly crossed).

    Re: RATM are coming

    Hi Andrew,

Not many RATM fans on this site, it appears. If you were taking a sneaky poll on average age group of CSers, I think you got your answer.

Yes, RATM are an awsome band. My 18 yr old son is as exited as you about them coming out. I tipped him onto them about 6-7 yrs ago (part of my contribution to his musical education).

I was around as a kid (a very young kid, thank you) to catch the end of the golden age of rock (mid 60s to early 70s). Then the late 70s and 80s was a very lean period. Thankfully, the early 90s renewed my faith, with an explosion of great bands and music (eg. Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Chilli Peppers, Tool, Radiohead and, of course, RATM, etc). We get pumped up when Tool and PJ come out, but this is something different as RATM have not really been before (and we thought never would).

So, hope you get to see them (they will probably turn up at the BDOs) and enjoy.

By the way, making any good coffee? (Thought Id add that as this IS Coffee Snobs.)

    Greg.

        Hi greg

Getting there with the coffee got a new machine so figureing it out.

Yes it will be a good show there arent to many bands that have a stage presence like they do every concert gets reviewed as explosive your son will enjoy it.

When my son was born (hes 15 mnths now) I put on a Rage dvd to get him to sleep or when he was upset in the car on with a cd to quit him down, hell be a fan for sure.

Hopefully I do get to se them somehow because I dont think ill get another chance.

Please RATM do a seperate Brisbane show id even give up coffee to see you. (just in case their snobs too)

        Andrew

Didnt RATM play at a Big Day Out a few years back? I seem to recall watching them with a skate ramp nearby, but I could be imagining it.

Ohhh.. off-topic in the off topic thread (naughty Andy), please be kind moderators.

Answer from me is yes Nunu. I bought tickets in the presale. The whole floor and the gold section sold out in 1 minute and the only pair of tickets I could get were "silver" S2 row C which is dead in front (nice score).

A mate and I went and saw Bruce and the boys about 22 odd years ago at Festival Hall and it was a blast. (still spooks me to have 20+ year old memories, made worse when the venue doesnt exist anymore) :-[

...which is also why I didnt know about RATM playing.

yeah, they played BDO in 1996. I thought it was the same year as Porno for Pyros but wasnt sure yesterday, checking BDOs past lineups made it easy.

I think Ill be going to the Sydney show.

Talk about old school. The 80s was the golden age for Metal! I sure do miss it!!

I saw them in 1996 and they were fantastic. Can;t afford it this year, those of you going - enjoy yourselves.

Andy, I know how you feel. Jas looked at me in horror when she went to see U2 and I told her I saw them about 20+ years ago.

I would like to go and see Alice Cooper again - havent seen him for about 20 odd years. I may take OG who has never seen him live.

Aaaahhhhh.....Those were the days. Back when tickets could be had for prices in the single digits with a party every night and a concert every week-end! WooHoo!! [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

                          Hey Sarg,

My son got tickets to RATM. Very lucky, they sold out in the blink of an eye. Very stoked.
Keep an on BDO. Could be a ripper, with Rage here as well as Kings of Leon, Powderfinger and Silverchair and, wait for it, Smashing Pumpkins. I will definitely be there.

For you reminiscers, did anyone see Springsteen in about 1985 - best Ive ever seen -IMHO- (and Ive seen a few). Saw Dylan just recently - did not disappoint, hes a living legend. 8-)
Although best gigs for me this year have been Tool and Damien Rice.

                          Greg

I saw him back in the early 80s and again in 2004. Excellent show both times!

Dylan has been awesome every time Ive seen him! A legend indeed!

As a side note Australian Pink Floyd is coming to an auditorium here in October. Compared to other concerts at $USD47.50 for a ticket its a cheap show.

I saw Alice a quite a few years ago in Sydney and he was great.

Not too many years ago I saw Dylan, also in Sydney. Awsome.

I notice latelyy that my favourite Sydney radio stationare promoting "The Angels" as part of their "Rocktober" concert this year.

A school friend of mine puts on a gathering every Otober weekend (this weekend non-NSW people) and this year his main act is none other than The Angels.

A few years ago he had one of the Eagles at his place before they started their Autralian tour.

Unfortunately Im not going this year, but I will be not too far away in the Hunter valley, wine tasting.
