I wish it was all that simple!
In reality, the psychologists who set up the scenarios (and the whole shows) know perfectly well how to manipulate and press peoples buttons. Put anyone under a lot of stress, ramp it up until they are on a knife edge, and then push.
(As a psychotherapist I do it all the time--but my purpose is pure! )

The Biggest Loser losers were at it again this week.... they get letters from home, and even before theyve opened them, the rivers of tears flow.

Now, I was brought up thinking that you cry --well, you try not to first ---at the tragedies in your life. Someone close to you dies. And you smile at the pleasant events.

But the tables have turned. Though I suspect with some, the lacrimose outbursts are attention-seeking. Or pathetically weak character showing through.

I dont understand the appeal of reality shows.

Quite right TG! Our whole lives are reality, and it shows!

mind you, I nearly cry when our Ozzie batsman get out, one after the other.

The producers of these reality tv shows pick emotional people to partake, the phycological profiles done on the participants are

designed to find these flaws so that the viewing public are more emotionally involved and therefore watch more closely

    and more often.

The sad truth is that these producers also do their homework on the public to gauge what it is that makes them

tick and therefore provide what it is they supposedly want to watch, so it must be correct that a proportion of Aussies are a

    Nation of cry babies.

HOWEVER, (and although it should not be seen to be weak to cry at the appropriate time and it is better to express

ourselves fully in whatever form) I still dont get what it is that makes people watch them!!

In fact it upsets me so much that it makes me want to cry................so I will!!

Yeah, I guess I do find him painful to watch. Mostly because watching his movies causes me to repeatedly stab myself in the eye with a fork!

Fairly sure I could remain stoic after copping Wasabi in the eye but being forced to watch an Adam Sandler movie would definitely bring me to tears!
Please elaborate m@. Is this because you find Adam Sandler too painful to watch? My kids have just about all his movies, and have watched each one many times.

Ok, so I thought we were a nation of wusss in OZ.... then I was watching a show on tv called Ultimate fighter. Its basically a Big Brother house with boof heads. So they get voted off as well and in the end theres one Ultimate Fighter... so when they get voted off they cry!!!! The toughest guys on the planet havin a bit of a cry. They belt each other up in a cage and come out bloodied and bruised, but when they lose and get voted off, they cry.... makes me feel a bit better for crying when watching Big Daddy.

I dropped my MP3 player (without knowing) on verge, I drove to shops and on arriving home found a wafer thin MP3 sadly laying there. I held back the waterworks and let out a few expletives instead!!!

Try peeling and cutting up a few kilos of onions.  Its one of the most emotional things you can do.
I find grating up fresh horseradish root to be a much more emotional experience. ;D

    Java "Loves the stuff!" phile
Wasabi in the eye, brings out some very powerful emotions,..and scary bad words from your subconscious mind.
