What can I say the spell check didnt pick it up. I am a baby boomer not a computer wiz :-[
Besides I didnt know it was a spelling competition :P
But I am willing to take criticism NOT, I am not sensitive - I am not - really not. Do you really think I spell wrongly :-[ :-[ :-/ I was learnt proper at skool. :P
My point was more of how snobby we snobbers are! ;D Not so much your spelling or lack thereof...
Ok somewhere around Tully or inland a bit, and yes mate the old style poppers were built a lot better than the newer ones and by putting less in, as in one hand full at a time, will extend your roast times somewhat by letting the hot air pass through the beans easier.
You can also adjust your roast times by this method........

You reckon a popper will still do the job? :-/
Hi Stan and welcome to Coffeesnobs.
In answer to your question, yes a popcorn popper will definately do the job!
Alot of us actually started out with one before moving onto something bigger and better.
If you have a look in the " Home Roasting" forums, you will find a threads on Popcorn Poppers and how to cook with it.
Hope this helps and good luck! Popcorn popper roasting is fun.
Mate, you must be somewhere near townsville, if you source out an old style pop corn popper it will work fine, just dont put too many in at a time. I started with one and it was a good cheap way to start, and also get a feel and an ear for the various stages and different beans, not only that but by doing small roasts at first you will waste less as you barbecue some and under roast others.
You should pick up a second hand one for under the $10 mark and then of course the dreaded upgradeitis is inevitable but you will be more the wiser and will have browsed the mega amounts of wild and wonderful home made roasting devises this site sports, Its all good mate......
I am currently browsing the roaster pages - looking at what may suit. A popper wont because even on a winters day it doesnt get much below 25 deg up here so I am still researching. I have a local supply for Green Beans and there is always Greenbay.
Coffee is not addictive but the making of the perfect cup certainly is ;D ;D ;D
