A moat of broken eggshells also works pretty well to keep snails and slugs out.

started a topic Espresso in the garden.

    Espresso in the garden.

Planted a batch of seedlings a couple of days ago, something is eating the hell out of them, as we have a dog cant/don't want to use snail pellets.

Did a Google, Gardening Australia recommend a spray to combat slugs and snails "try coffee spray. This is an idea borrowed from Jerry Coleby-Williams, and it works a treat. One part really strong espresso coffee to 10 parts water, and spray the seedlings and surrounding soil thoroughly. The slugs and snails cross, it absorb the caffeine and die."

Made up a batch, not sure it is snails, will report back on result.🙂
