My son works at an auction house in Sydney.
Im pretty sure the premium is the auctioneers cut.
They have to get some money from somewhere to pay the wages.
Besides which, you can see/touch the goods before bidding.
You cant do that on the other place.

Thanks. Sometime feebay is ok because they dont charge a buyers premium unlike auctions (often 12-15% of final price)

Have a snoop around auctions. Theres always second hand commercial equipment coming through. And Im not talking about the bay of evil.
