We have had the car three weeks now and OG is in love. He says the way it zips up the hill to get home and the fact it actually goes when he hits the accelerator is wonderful.
We are very happy with our choice and I am now beginning to realise what a good deal we got as the advertised price has been about $1K - $2k more than we paid, as I got a $300 trade in on the camira (it wasnt worth that believe me) and the stuff up on the internet listing.
She did have 1000kms on the clock as she was a demo, but we are officially the first owners so get all the warranty etc.
There are no extras and I didnt even think to ask as I was a bit stressed, but it does have an MP3 CD player, the radio is great, air con and heating and it is comfortable to sit and ride in.
When I bought a new car (a few years ago, now) they offered a price for the window tinting, and I countered with a price that the local tradesman would do it for. They reluctantly accepted--(I guess their profit margin disappeared!)
They offered a deal on mud-flaps. I countered with the price the local Auto barn would sell for, and they gave up.
Glad you got out with your shirt!

For tinting, the lady went on about the great SPF and protecting the interior from fading in the sun etc.
I said "We have a garage. Thats got a pretty good SPF".
LMBO ;D I dont know you real well fatboy, but for some reason I can totally imagine you saying that to them ;D ;D ;D
Oh yeah. Id forgotten that bit.
They tried to sell us all the extra stuff. I countered with
"So what youre telling me is the standard paintjob is rubbish?"
"Umm.. no. Its just that this will protect it"
"So why isnt it standard?".. and so on.

She gave up not long after that.
Well we are now the proud owners of a spanking new Mazda 3 Neo. Cost a cool 20K driveaway. Should have been more but the advertisement on the net was wrong. So he had to sell it to us at that price.
I have never felt so stressed in a long time, having to sit through the hard sell of "We can offer you a better deal if you take our finance" and "Do you want to pay and extra 1500 for us to look after of the paintwork and interior (basically the polish and scotchguard deal) Ill throw in window tinting for free"
All I wanted to do was sign the paperwork and get out of there.
Oh and they took the Camira off our hands, even though it was worth basically nothing, but it covered the extra $300 for stamp duty etc.

We have pretty well decided on the Mazda 3 hatch.
Considered a corolla but a friend who is a saleperson for a toyota dealership told us to be wary of the later models as there have been a few issues. He didnt elaborate but I have later heard they are making some of their parts in Mexico or somewhere exotic and there are quality control issues.
We also were loaned a car guide on lemons etc and they gave the Mazda 3 a very good write up and 4 stars.
Hopefully, tomorrow the car we were looking at is available for a test drive and we can se it tomorrow and make a decision.
The new Mazda 3 hatch is a nice looking car especially in RED
I have heard a few people talk about reverse bidding sites where the dealers bid for your business and they only charge if they save you more than their fee...
Could be worth a look.....
For mine look for no less than 10% on driveaway RRP. Thats what fleet discounts get and its definitely achievable on pretty much any car- regardless on whether the dealers say they discount them or not...

We bought a Mazda 3 last year and it is hard to fault. We keep our cars over 10 years so build quality is really important and it does not disappoint.
We live in a rural area and there is only one Mazda dealer so it is pretty hard to bargain. The best move we made was to contact an online car broker. I think we paid $20 and had some competitive quotes within 2 days. We then took these to our local dealer and they said they couldnt possibly match that price but after a few days they eventually came back and said they would. Ultimately they logged on to Mazdas production line and changed the colour of one of the vehicles on the line to match my partners request (I wanted a red one but ...). So it took 6 weeks to arrive but had the stability control we wanted. I would definitely use a car broker again even if it was only to find out what a good price should be. I think we saved over $1000.
