Bob Dylan _ Which album is the best?

My comments tend to repeat those from Flynnaus.
I only have a dozen of his albums - all pre 1987, and bought by Googling "Best Bob Dylan Albums'.
For me it's a toss-up between 'Blood on the Tracks' and "Blonde on Blonde'.
There are so many good tracks on both.
I have the highest respect for Dylan as one of a very few musical geniuses but I would have to say that some of his albums have a lot of mediocre material.
I guess when you have produced that many albums it is inevitable.
One of my projects is to listen to some of his later albums and add the ones I like to the collection.

Yes, Blood On The Tracks is a great album. I really appreciate his earlier songs but on the soundtrack of High Fidelity I heard a later song, Most Of The Time that I liked too. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

I think I only own the 3-disc 'Masterpieces', Blood on the Tracks and Blonde on Blonde, might have the Bootleg one somewhere. It's Blood on the Tracks for me...largely coz I love Tangled up in Blue.

I'm not a Dylan tragic but have owned a few albums. His voice can start to grate with me after a while.
Blonde on Blonde is considered his best by many
Blood On The Tracks is also acknowledged as one of his best (if not his best).
Also consider the following
Desire (has the hit song Hurricane on it)
Highway 61 Revisited (Includes Like a Rolling Stone)
Freewheelin' Bob Dylan if you prefer his pre-rock era.
Bringing It All Back Home
Before the Flood (Live album)
Basement Tapes (recorded in the sixties but released in the 70s)
Gees, there are so many I've barely gone beyond his 60s stuff.
The Christian era stuff is popular (Saved, Slow Train Coming)
His more recent stuff is considered good (Time Out of Mind, Oh Mercy)
Anyway, not for us the tell us what you should like.

Bob Dylan _ Which album is the best?
I know I'm probably starting a war, but which Bob Dylan album is the best?
I really appreciate his music and I have listened to many of his songs over the years, but I only own one album; Blood On The Tracks. Tonight on the radio (ABC Local) I heard a song called One More Cup of Coffee, that I thought was fantastic. A bit of research tells me that it was on Dylan's Desire album. After looking through Apple's iTunes I thought I might buy that album, but there are a few other albums that have songs I like. My problem is that I can't afford to buy all Dylan's albums: well, not all at once anyway. So, which one(s) should I buy first?
