HI everyone,
We are new to this site and to the joys of home espresso and just acquired an old Faema Amica II.
The machine seems to be fine but the rubber disk is missing and we have not been able to locate one.
We contacted Faema. They replied via email that they have a gasket in stock but when we see photos of gaskets they look like simple black rubber rings, more like a washer or a seal.
The part we are looking for is a solid disk that fits inside the group head/portafliter. The Faema manual says that this is required to produce consistent "crema."
We have searched various sites and tried parts from other machines. For example, we picked up an old Gran Gaggia that has a similar part but it does not fit this machine.
We have tried to read many posts here before asking silly questions but we have to say that the volume of information is overwhelming. We have not even been able to figure out pressurized versus non pressurized filters to know whether or not we even need this part!
We would be very appreciative of any suggestions on the function of this part and where we might get it! Thanks.
