No worries - I bought the basket too, cause my wife still wanted to use the pressurised one!

Au contraire!  Many people have done it, and so long as youre grinding properly you wont get anything going through (because the other wall has normal filter holes in it still).  That is, so long as you dont go through both walls by mistake

There are many posts here about it.

    [edit: bad grammar!]
ahh my mistake I wasnt undersanding that there are 2 layers of metal only pressed together - and that you could drill one side and remove the metal... if I had of realised this earlier my money could have gone toward a drill press instead of just buying a basket! :-/

Ive also heard that a hole saw will unclog them nicely - make a nice big hole in the side with the one small hole, and it will never get clogged again  ;D ;D
Itll never hold coffee grinds again either...

    3. Any tips on how to store those pins near your unit and not lose them?
The Sunbeam 6910 has a place for its, inside the back door.
Check your user manual if you have a different model to see if theres also a storage spot.
Otherwise try some bluetack on the wall near the machine.

If theyre anything like the Breville, a paper clip is too big, try a fine needle or thumb tack.

You might want to make the hole slightly bigger, But not holesaw big! People use holesaws to make naked PFs but thats a different story... :-)

Clogged Sunbeam filters - Ive lost those pesky "pins"

    Hi Coffee lovers,

I have a basic Sunbeam machine (my second entry level Sunbeam) and have resorted to plunger coffee because all my filters (two double shot and two single shot) are clogged to the point of zero flow (and potential explosion!).

    1. How do I best clean them? Do I need to get those pin thingies? If so, where can I get some in Sydney CBD?

    2. Once I get my filters cleaned, what is the best way to maintain them so history does not repeat? In the past I have just rinsed them under hot water.

    3. Any tips on how to store those pins near your unit and not lose them?

I think the site is great.

    Cheers
Working...
