    Re: Breville 800es

my bad - thought the post was about the 800es and generally poor results.

which is what I had until I started roasting and modifying baskets etc...

dont know what fresh beans will have to do with steaming milk

I have the BES820 and I think its the same internals except that I have a pressure gauge and hot water wand (woo!).

Anyway, I find the steam lacking too. I get the best results by remembering a few tips:
    • steam _after_ making coffee (which I assume youre doing?). If not, push a few fake runs through the machine and wait for the "hiss" between each one.
    • Remove the froth enhancer.
    • Run the steam wand for 30s before dunking it in the jug or until it dries up a bit (it wont dry completely)
    • Dont do more than 2 serves of milk per go, not sure how much this is but thats two standard serves, not two muggafuggincinos
    • Clean dried milk off the tip straight away and use the pin provided to clean the nozzle (steam some water after youve cleaned it to get rid of any debris)

These are just my specific tips for this machine - you should also follow the excellent steaming tips generic to these machines (stretching, swirling, etc).

Get fresh beans - fresher the better

Do you grind your own beans? if so what grinder do you have?

and yes they are a thermoblock machine

    Breville 800es

    Hey all,

I got a Breville 800es today and got home all excited to start playing with it. Results were pretty dissappointing as I cannot get enough steam pressure and it is sending water in with the milk.

I have tried a few things like waiting for it to heat longer however it keeps doing the same thing..

    Any ideas?
