  • To uppgrade or not to uppgrade.

The set up at the moment is

    Sunbeam Em2300
    Breville BCG450 (Modified)
    Black n Decker popper.

Hi. This set up is working well for two people imbibing about 4 shots a day with the occasional extras. The beans are fresh roasted then ground within 24 hours and extracted to produce a shot which beats most of the commercial cafes in Nelson NZ. ( It’s good)
I have looked around the current second hand coffee machine sites and decided that most of what is on offer under 400$ is the same components in different shiny boxes that are actually no better than the 2300. Has anyone had a drastic improvement moving up from this style of machine/set up : and if so what was the factor that made the difference. And if you are wondering why there is two P’s in uppgrade you need to watch this move http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiocracy

    Cheers

Excellent. I always thought it was double P for pimp rather than double D for double. Any advice on the upgrayedd

If you are happy with what you have and believe your coffee is better than a good cafe why consider upgrading?

Id suggest that $400 is unlikely to get you much of an upgrade, and as Quom says, if you like the coffee, why upgrade?

Of course if you are an upgrade addict as many of us here are, then $4000 will give you a nice upgrade!

Double D for a Double Dose of his pimpin

You could go for a grinder upgrade for that price or maybe a good condition used Gaggia for less than your total which would give you a commercial size PF and probably more stable temperatures with a boiler rather than a thermoblock.
