      Hi Pawel,

Your post has somehow failed to spark a lot of discussion, but Ill give you my opinion:

Sunbeam conical burr grinder (EM0450 around $130 or EM0480 around $170?) and the left over on the best machine you can find. Ive got the Breville Ikon which would be in that price range if you could still find one (its discontinued). When I was looking mid last year, I was tossing up between the Saeco Via Venezia and the Ikon and went Ikon in the end, and am happy enough with it for the $.

Otherwise, Sunbeam do the EM5900 with the EM0450 grinder as a package for $499 retail according to their website (packaged as PU5900).

      Good luck.

      Cheers, Damien

P.S. I forgot to add the usual disclaimer about using good quality, freshly roasted coffee, and grind as required AND get an unpressurised (aka single layer/single wall) basket.

The fact is, in this price range most of what you get will be ok, rather than great, BUT, with the unpressurised basket, good fresh coffee and grinding on demand, you should be able to get pretty reasonable coffee out of even the cheaper Breville/Sunbeam machine.  If you do some research on this site you will find the above advice repeated ad naseum, and I can confirm from my own experience that there is good reason for that!

If youre more interested in convenience than good coffee, the nespresso might be worth a try, but dont expect it to be an improvement on your Breville thats being replaced.

        Cheers, Damien.
