    @ atropine

I have been using mine on the highest temperature, it makes an excellent coffee. So far, I am pleased.
Ill give it a good workout, and see how it lasts.
Yeah today is the first time I"ve given it quite a bit of work. Its really good. Crema on top, perfect coffee. and the dual boiler makes a HUGE difference for steaming milk. No wonder I was never very good at it, only ever had a single boiler cheap espresso machine.

I dont have anything bad to say about it yet. Amazing machine for the price. Home made coffee has never tasted so good.

I must be missing something, perhaps I should have bought 8 of these Aldi beauties instead of my overpriced shiny Italian monstrosity. :

The aldi auto, is like a high performance state of the art japanese made car that can do 0-100mph in 6 seconds with all the bells and whistles. Yours is more like a old fashioned stately rolls royce. They both do the job well, just your rolls does 0-100mph in a couple of minutes & lacks the features of an aldi auto.

I think thats how you compare. Yours has style, grace, sophistication, performance. Aldi auto isnt about style though , its about getting the job done fast and well. So far I believe it delivers high performance coffees.
I will try and take a photo of the coffee grinds in the next day or so
to get an opinion about the quality of granules created.

Read the following. The reviewer was using Vittoria coffee, which I imagine is a perfect match for this little beauty.

I was given a box of Aldi branded chocolate once, for which I am forever grateful. Just one taste confirmed for me that I would never have any desire to walk into one of their stores.

The last sentence in the review speaks volumes ( Unfortunately this machine is all gloss and no substance. I really couldn’t take it back to ALDI fast enough.)
To be fair the machine reviewed is not the same super auto being discussed here.

Youre right Jon. That coffee maker was half the price, which probably makes your Rolls twice as good. ;D

I"ll take a picture of the crema tomorrow.

Remember that review is not for the new aldi machine. Possibly this new one wasnt even made in the same factory.

Here is a picture of the coffee grinds. I think its a good grind, but dont have much to compare it with. Of note is the lack of dust. Almost no dust at all is created, which as I understand it, is a good sign for a grinder. This is setting 4.5 range 1.0 - 8.0

It also means I could buy 17 of these little beauties for the same money.

                          Yuk!
A good grinder makes all the grinds the same size.
You have boulders and pebbles and sizes between in that picture.

I think youll find the Rolls can do 0-100 in 10.5 seconds despite weighing almost  2300kg.

No dust... What does that mean ?

What I can see is a range of particulates from small crushed bits to big chunks and every thing in-between....

Lacking in grind consistency other than being consistently inconsistent.

If the puck looks like a fine particle board rather than craft wood... Then ya grinder is at the bottom end of the market...  Never mind though... As it gets blunt, it will just crush the beans and you may get a little more dust.

Do not mean to burst your bubble, but a bottom end grinder is $200 plus and only once your in the $400 - $1200 range; do you get an acceptable level of consistency..

So the burrs and the plastic in this unit just can not compete.  It does the job and it is fit for purpose....  But that is not for providing great coffee...  It is a peer pressure thing - I got a coffee machine and I only have to push a button.

With fresh beans... Better than instant = YES...

But lets call a spade a spade and not a Back hoe - who needs a RR
