  • Breville 800 es vs. Sunbeam em5900

Im getting a coffee maker and I really wanna know which one is better. The 800es or the em5900. (Ive spent the last 2 hours reading reviews and its getting real frustrating. :-/)

You need a grinder. You can get the 5900 with a 0450 grinder in the PU5900 pack - I paid $353 after $30 cashback. I really like it.

I have a SB 3800 and have had it for the last 5 years. Just with a few simple mods they are a really great little machine to get started on! I also am using the SB EMO480 grinder and roast my own beans and can get better coffee out of it than most of the cafes around my area!

I havent had much to do with the Brevilles but I have definitely been happy with my little sunbeam!

Re: Breville 800 es vs. Sunbeam em5900

Hi MEeee, Im not an expert or much of a snob, but here is my experience:

My sister-in-law has the Breville 800 that we tried out when hunting for a machine, and I have to say I wasnt too impressed with it. The steamwand squirted an annoying amount of water before steaming, even after being flushed into a cloth first, although Ive read this can be worked around with practice.

We ended up getting the Sunbeam 5600 and love it - it has a useful display that tells you when it is up to heat for coffee/hot water or steam (hotter), which neatly solved the excess water problem. We didnt look into the 5900 so cant tell you, but because of our good experiences with the Sunbeam 5600 vs the Breville 800 Id be more inclined to go for the Sunbeam. Since everyones so keen on grinders (Ive only just got one for Christmas (Sunbeam EMO450) so cant comment from personal experience), you might even be better off getting a cheaper model of coffee machine, like the 5600, and spending the saved money on a grinder.

OR, on our pricing website the Sunbeam em5900 seems not too much cheaper than a Sunbeam em6910. We were really interested in the 6910 because of the dual thermoblock, and Ive heard good things about it,  but it fell outside of our budget. Perhaps you might consider the 6910 and look out for a deal near where you are?

the price was out of my range cuz i didnt intend to spend more than 500/600. as it was, there was a 30% off but it was still kinda expensive... :-/
