Much better. You will be much happier with a silvia or a lelit than any of the machines you listed. Check ebay as well (as much as I hate to say it). But remember, buying off a coffeesnob, you will most likely get a machine that's been well cared for. And most will let you try before you buy.Originally posted by Fullofbeans View PostThanks very much David, I managed to sort out the gift card problem!
So now I'm free of obligation to Sunbeam or Breville, I'm quite keen to follow the advice - I'll check out the sellers' forum to see if I can grab a 2nd hander =)
Happy hunting!

Out of your shortlist, I'd probably go with the Breville 800. Make sure you get single walled baskets with any of the sunbeams or brevilles.Originally posted by Fullofbeans View PostChange of plans!
Now I'm after a machine to match a PL53, any machine as long as it's under $400.
Considering the last machine I had was a little Bar Italia that served me well, I'm not really sure what I should look for.
Any help would be really appreciated!
Better yet, search for a second hand rancillio silvia or lelit machine - but this doesn't solve your issues of gift cards. Try and sell them for face value? I do this a lot.

New machine + grinder dilemma
The dodgy little Breville that got me through a student lifestyle has finally packed up and I'm looking for a decent grinder + machine. I've done a bit of research, but still a bit lost.
Due to a gift-card I'm inevitably buying at least one of the grinder/machine at Myer or Harvey Norman (which hopefully explains the ecclectic shortlist):
Grinding
Lelit PL53
Breville Smart
Machine
Sunbeam EM6200
Sunbeam EM5600
Sunbeam EM4800/4820
Breville 800ES
Breville BES250
Saeco H8327
Leaning towards the Lelit and EM6200, but I'd really appreciate any advice and of course open to other suggestions
Thanks!Tags: None
