Hi there fellow coffee people. I have a friend who lives in Germany and they've spotted a machine I've always wanted in their local antique store. It's a Braun KF21 which was designed back in the early 70's by Dieter Rams - one of my favourite designers (and a massive influence on me getting into the industry - but that's another story) It's a beautiful looking machine - a real corker of functional German design from that era. Check it out!

According to her quick inspection the unit seemed to be in reasonably good condition minus some hairline cracks on the water tank.
I was wondering if there was any 'wisdom from the crowd' so to speak, when it comes to buying older coffee makers like this. I'd be using it mostly on weekends, so it wouldn't be a 'daily driver' so to speak. Is there anything I can get my friend to look for, specifically? Is there a belief out there that these kinds of machines make terrible coffee or something? Are there people out there who can help restore any minor defects to machines like this?
Any form on insider/experience-based info I can get would be awesome! Many thanks
