Closer inspection of the pump also revealed imprinted on the red plastic body housing 'ULKA (diode symbol) 230v ~ 50Hz' which seems to support this theory.

Ex pumps have a hot water rating, the plastic ep are cold water only. But generally, the ex brass nosed pumps seem to be more enduring.

I've also seen references that say the Ulka EP and EX pumps are actually identical internally. The only difference being the plastic or brass outlet.
Can someone please confirm/deny this?
If true I can't really see how there would be any significant difference in durability.

For the record my power meter reads 247v so probably all good.

I'm also thinking it could possibly be a certification thing.
Here is the datasheet.

In fact if I had to guess I'd say the 220, 230, 240 ones are all the same internally and labelled differently because it must be cheaper to manufacture a couple of different voltages instead of six.

Different countries around the world have different voltages. Parts of Europe are 220 and 230 so a lot of equipment from there will be rated to suit. We run on 240 so the 240V ones are best but with these pumps they're capable of handling 10V +/-. Some other equipment may not be however.

Yes the pump voltage. the sticker reads 240V 50Hz 48WOriginally posted by level3ninja View PostAll good. Just out of interest, is it the pump voltage you're talking about? They'll all work fine.
I looked up specs for the EX5 and discovered that there apparently are 220/230/240V versions ??
Very confusing.

Ulka EX5 pump
Hi,
I bought an Ulka EX5 pump to service a machine and have discovered it is labelled as 240v whereas generally it seems most are rated at 230v.
Is this a problem? Did I get the wrong pump for OZ power?
thanks.Tags: None
