  • Sunbeam Cafe Latte EM5600 coffee not hot

I recently received my first coffee machine as a birthday present but am fighting with it to get a good hot coffee.  There is nothing on the machine to alter the temperature, and the book says just to make sure cups etc are warmed.
I have tried this, but coffee is still luke warm.
As I usually make cappuccino it is not that much of a problem as I heat the milk up so that also warms up the coffee, but is there something wrong with my machine?

Usually when the thermoblock comes up to temperature and the machine is ready to brew, everything else such as your group and group handle is still cold. Turn your machine on and let it sit for 30-45 minutes before brewing.

I find that running the group handle under the shower heats it up nicely. I also leave it on the cup warmer between brews and make sure I use warmed cups. It all helps.

            welcome shirpam

gavin 1 is right - insert the portafilter / handle into the machine loosely to let it heat up. 30-45 mins is MORE than enough - prob 15-20 mins should do the trick.

i was wondering how how you are steaming your milk to? is your milk aint hot enough, your coffee wont be hot enough!

try heating up the machine for say 10 minutes, then just press the brew switch so hot water comes out of the group head into a cup and taste/feel the water temp. if that isnt hot, then you may have a problem with your machine.

let us know how you go

            cheers

thanks for the hints.  Today I went to a Sunbeam Barista course so am now an expert- yeah right.  Anyway, I now know how to get the milk to foam beautifully and realise that I wasnt heating it enough before.
So today I have manged to make lots of lovely hot cappuccino.  Success at last
