  • La Cimbali M27 2 group, ok for home machine??

    Hi,

Anyone know which model M27 this is,  and would it make a good home machine?

What would be a reasonable price?

    Thanks.

Mate - I dont know the model, but its a Cimbali so I imagine that its quality...a good commercial makes an excellent home machine.  You chew through more electricity although lagging makes it very economical really if its left on throughout the day and if turned off for a few hours gets the boiler back to boiling within a couple of minutes literally.  Its a living breathing thing in the kitchen.

If you keep it turned on throughout the day, use the hot water wand for tea in particular and lag the boiler I suspect that in real terms it wouldnt cost more (or the difference would be minimal) than using a big single group machine and heating it up after turning it off 3-4 times a day and using the kettle for tea 4-6 times a day say (or whatever the ratio).

    Cheers

PS.  They also make a fantastic talking point...

Re: La Cimbali M27 2 group, ok for home machine??

Well I picked it up from interstate, and had to remove the group heads and some other bits to get it into 30kg boxes for the flight home...

Its a M27 Start C2. Anyone know how I can identify the year of manufacture? (I couldnt seem to find it anywhere on the machine)

Its missing group handles and filters so will have to buy some of those. Will probably get some new group seals, shower screens and those gaskets / rubber seal that fit between group head and the boiler, too.

The inside of the boiler looks pretty good considering the age, and I couldnt see any sign of leaks or general corrosion anywhere else. I found a bit of calcium on the inside of the flange part of the boiler where the group head bolts on.

Anyone have some tips on how to remove the calcium and give the boiler a good clean?

Ill take some pics when I get a chance and show how it all looks.

I just saw on the rear of a bus...in full colour, and larger than real life Bruno...very disturbing...he says Borat was so 2006....

Mate good find. I dont know about the calc build up. A search on here might reveal though...citric acid? As for parts and handles etc ring Pedro at Coffeeparts!!

        Cheers

If all else fails look for a metal tag on the boiler.

Today, I bought a second hand group handle and some descaler, then took the boiler out, the element, and disassembled the group heads. Tonight, everything went into a hot tub of descaler for an overnight soaking.

Cleaned all the external panels and all the inside surfaces.   So far its scrubbed up pretty good.    The boiler date had 92 stamped on the end,  and I saw 95 on some of the other parts.

Ill probably repaint the the black side panels.   Whats the best way to polish up the rest of the (not so shiny) steelwork?

Should / can the solenoids on the side of the group heads be cleaned? (is it just a case of taking off the nut on the top and lifting the plastic casing off?  - I think they are Lucifer / Orit, or something like that)

Ps - anyone got a manual for the M27 they could send to me please?

When I get back from work tomorrow Ill order all the seals and other bits from coffeeparts.
